silverbelly = a light colored hat color, not white as such but ranging from off-white, somewhat silvery, to a very light tan depending upon the manufacturer's choice of shade. An extremely versatile color, silverbelly goes with most outfits, it ranks right up there with dark green in that...
Pretty well all of the big name on-line hatters carry brushes, under "Accessories" or similar heading.
Note that you should acquire 2 brushes, one light & one dark, for use on light- & dark-colored hats respectively. This helps guard against spreading dyed felt dust amongst them e.g. navy...
If you already have American dollars, consider reviewing the Akubra offerings of the several well-known Australian Web sellers. Due to the exchange rate situation with the Australian dollar, there are some real bargains to be had. Akubras are high quality fur felt hats, they're great...

This vintage De Looze is my size. But 9 bills US for an admittedly mothy hat, is there something special about the De Looze brand that justifies such a BIN price?

I wouldn't mind picking up 10 or 12 of these devices. Regrettably the manufacturer doesn't provide an on-line shopping cart for their product, although they do list a number of retailers who carry their...
Bear in mind that whether or not Ballistol works to preserve such things as rifle slings, ammo pouches, webbing etc., those items normally don't make direct contact with one's skin. Whereas the sweat band in a hat does, so I'd want to be wary as to Ballistol's ingredients list.
Yes he was certainly prone to use watches as merit awards. A Google search does bring up some contemporary news items wherein he presented watches to GM staffers for such things as 25 years service. I can't help thinking that if he was the recipient of a merit watch, given his position, same...
The Chevy dial logo & associated engraving on the back make this watch an especially interesting piece, as does its octagonal case. It appeals not only to vintage watch enthusiasts but to Chevy motorheads as well (I plead guilty on both counts)
That Omega is a wonderfully classic wristwatch. More & more I find such preferable to the current production featuring dials so cluttered with complications as to be illegible notwithstanding their enormous dimensions. Not that I would be averse to picking up a modern perpetual calendar Patek...
Interesting pair of references to the Crimean War (October 1853 – February 1856) respecting incidents involving both English & French troops engaged against the Russians.
All's well that ends well.
The beauty of talcum powder indeed is how nicely it brushes out after doing its thing. I've tried pure corn starch as well, discovering that one really has to work at getting rid of that stuff!
