Yes HD is exactly right; I am tempted to get the civilian model with the "slash" hand warmer pockets but not sure about the positioning/height of the pocket openings (looks a bit high in their online photos).
@Nick 123 Thanks anyway for re-posting
Would love to see pics of the Aerial Star; I am particularly interested in the positioning of the hand-warmer pockets. The AS website says the pockets are "positioned up on the sides". Curious how that looks and feels.
G&B jackets are very well constructed and they offer many different styles of flight gear, even Nomex suits and custom flight helmets (they provide flight gear to the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the USAF Thunderbirds). They have a sales page on their website that sometimes have good deals. Their...
Maybe we could group A-2's into 3 categories:
Group 1: Low-end, $99-$400 (less authentic to WWII originals and usually less expensive), such as WPG, Sporty's, LL Bean, Orvis, G&B "Civil" version A-2, US Wings, etc.
Group 2: Mid-level $400-$700, U.S. Authentic, The Cockpit, G&B "Historic" A-2's...
I've owned 'em both. The G&B has a bright stainless steel zipper that screams "modern repro". The jacket is nice but looks and feels like a very new jacket and just doesn't have the hand-made look and the overall authentic aura of the Eastman. The goatskin they use is nice but much too uniform...
I enjoyed Ford's portrayal of Branch Rickey (owner of the Brooklyn Dodgers) in the Jackie Robinson biopic "42". He was nearly unrecognizable (even when he wore a gray fedora in afew scenes) and really brought the character to life.
Then there's the Indiana Jones legacy. Not sure where that franchise is going; there was talk of a "reboot" to introduce a new, young Indy, possibly Chris Pratt ("Jurassic World" and "Guardians of the Galaxy"). Lucky Harrison Ford! We get to see him in 2 iconic roles, in 2 iconic franchises, and...
Aero should call the longer Herc jacket the "Super Hercules". That's what the USAF named their C-130 J aircraft (basically a longer, "stretched" version of the C-130 Hercules cargo plane).
When the Navy recently sent me to Yokosuka, I stumbled upon a Buzz Rickson store right outside the base. Great store with all sorts of BR stuff, including some very cool patched-up jackets. Nylon and cotton jackets really look good with period-correct squadron/unit insignia. Their catalog also...
The new Stolen Valor Act (Pub.L.113-12, H.R. 258) was signed into law by President Barack Obama on June 3, 2013. It's an amended law to the previous one that had been struck-down.
Plus it's a provision within the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) that covers all of us in the military.
All...
Here in the U.S. it's actually a criminal offense to claim military awards and decorations not earned or to falsely state that you were a veteran of the Armed Services. There are certain privileges and benefits for being a legitimate veteran and maybe it all ties in with that. Vets have dearly...
Movie trailers look awesome! Will certainly check it out when it opens.
I wonder if George Lucas will sanction an "official" Star Wars: The Force Awakens Han Solo leather jacket for sale like the "official" Indy jackets that were offered in the wake of the Raider/Indy films?
