    New Activities/Interests during 'lockdown'

Thank you very much for those insights. I, by contrast, am looking forward to my first post-lockdown haircut as I really like my local men’s barbers and I think of getting a haircut as a kind of social occasion. Like you I’ve read a lot during lockdown. Working from home is not unfamiliar to me...

    New Activities/Interests during 'lockdown'

During the various lockdowns and Covid restrictions over the past year, what new interests/hobbies/challenges have you taken up? I have been learning (or trying to learn) Malay in my spare moments. It is the first time I have attempted a non-European language and I am finding the vocabulary...

    Norwegian Wool Sweaters

Thank you. It’s a great fit. In a sense it’s an impostor because it’s not made in Norway but southern England (Sussex). However it’s also a better fit than the ‘real’ and admittedly old Norwegian sweaters I have. I might get the Ecru and Navy version as well.

    Norwegian Wool Sweaters

I have added a few snaps above and below. The website is www.peterchristian.co.uk Search Norwegian jumpers (for Americans, jumper is British for sweater).

    Norwegian Wool Sweaters

I recently acquired a new Norwegian sweater - Navy and Ecru - from Peter Christian (the firm I mentioned earlier in the context of the Guernsey Breton wool sweater) and have worn it quite a few times over the past few weeks. The fit is perfect and I love the feel and smell of the wool. It’s warm...

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I have remembered that the dark green WP colour we have been talking about is in fact RIFLE GREEN rather than ‘Bottle Green’.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I have very much begun to appreciate the Derby Tweed Woolly Pully (WP) over the past few months. I've owned a number of them over the years and at present have two, one with just the patches, the other with patches, epps and pen pocket, but have previously neglected them in favour of some of my...

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I think I had a Bottle Green crew neck in my collection during the 1980s and wore it quite often at university. It was somewhat darker than the Moss Green; I can’t recall whether there was a bluish tinge or not. I notice that the Army surplus site you mention in Kidderminster has this sweater in...

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I was trying to imply that zip cardigans are, in the English context, just a bit downmarket. They are also quite ‘unisex’ in style and IMHO not as quintessentially masculine as WPs and fishermen’s sweaters.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

How different is the colour from the Moss Green? I ask because I have had a number of dark green WPs over the years and think that the ones I had in the 80s were darker - a deeper shade of ‘bottle green’ than the later ones from Kempton and subsequently OKW. The darker ones might have been...

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I agree with Cornelius and Steve, having worn Woolly Pullies for decades. I have several of the Welbeck versions and like them a lot but in my view the versions with patches have the edge and I wear those more often. I’m not keen on the Belvoir: zipped cardigans look a bit ‘common’ in colloquial...
