This is going slightly off-topic, I admit, but I can’t help thinking that the proliferation of unwanted ‘ads’ is a symptom of something larger. I have been an FL member since 2010 and over the past few years - and the past year in particular- I have noticed a change in the style and general tone...
We’ve just put our clocks forward by an hour and so it’s officially spring. I always find this transition disorientating for some reason - unlike the ‘fall back’ in the autumn which I always enjoy. And I already look forward to autumnal colours and soft light, which I find far more subtle and...
While I have some (but not total) sympathy for the couple, I think their timing is awful, given that so many people have died from Covid and many more have lost their jobs and are financially insecure. Meghan and Harry do not have any of those worries.
Meghan’s mother, Doria, seemed very...
I have ordered the matching Ecru and Navy Norwegian from Peter Christian as they had a Free Mail offer! I couldn’t resist it because although I have a very old version in those colours the fit of the Navy and Ecru sweater (see early photos) is so good that I couldn’t resist getting its matching...
The Fraternity looks great; I really like the motto: ‘Better Men for a Better World’. I have to be honest but I hadn’t heard of Fairmont State University before; thank you for making me aware of it.
Not mine ... She would be called Sampah Putih in Malay, I’ve worked out (I’m learning it as a lockdown hobby).
I get a SPRING in my step when the light and colours turn AUTUMNAL. But there are some beautiful early spring days, I grant you, especially when preceded by crisp mornings and followed...
The dictatorship of daffodils?!
It’s a really great poem, and I love Wordsworth but it does sum up the spirit
Meteorological Correctness and the pressure to favour spring over autumn. ... It’s going to be a nice frosty early spring night here with a clear sky: I’m very happy with that!
I like many of the colours of early spring and the soft light. There are also some nice crisp mornings and nights. However overall I prefer the dappled light and golden brown colours of autumn (Fall) and I associate spring with upheaval and change rather than peace and calm.
To move the thread back to the seasonal theme, my dislike of daffodils is more than just aesthetic. I find spring a stressful and anxious time of year when I feel a lot is expected of me. I prefer the calm of autumn and the stillness of winter. Apologies if that is meteorological incorrectness!
I wasn’t getting at you at all. The Lawsons are a nasty right-wing family IMHO - not too distant in character from the First Family across the Pond from 2017-2021. ... But let’s draw a line under those people or put them on another thread !
There are so many more important things going on at the moment that most people are fairly indifferent to be honest. ...Meghan’s mother came across as very dignified, but her father and half-siblings have made themselves look trashy by selling their stories to the tabloid press. And Harry is...
I just can’t understand what you see in her - she just comes across as low class but with money! Most of her viewers are from that demographic. Perhaps you should start a thread about Z-list British celebrities?
Oh you’re not still going on about that old lump of lard. ... On second thoughts, please don’t answer that.
I wish we had a ‘Goodbye’ magazine to nominate celebrities we don’t want to see ever again.
