Wake up 5:00am. Cigarrete and black coffee, a lot of it. Go to typewriter. Stop 8:00am. Go to courts, etc, back home to lunch and... lots of coffee, again, as more work. Sometimes, when I'm with no patience, walk around to take few photos. But this is the exception.
Once I had a chance to get a Bolex 8mm camera... But these cameras are useless here in Brazil. I could ever get the film and develop in home, as I tried with 16mm (worked very well). But here is absolutely impossible to find who can cut the film! By now here is just possible to shoot with...
Years ago I bought this projector (just mine is black). Automatic Bell&Howell, 8mm. Wonderful machine. I paid just a few pennies for it, went home very very happy. Two months after the lamp failed. Needed a lot time to find a new one. And more expensive than the projector! (now I use the trick...
Probably typewriters won't be produced anymore soon. Not because lack of demand. But if we can buy a first-class typewriter (Corona, Underwood, Remington, IBM and so on) at low prices, why we would buy a new one, not so good? My experiences with new typewriters (some brazilian Olivettis and...
About math, specially, I desagree with you, Wesley. To calculate without a calculator isn't a waste of time. This is an mental exercise. It's just like to play sports, instead to stay in front of a Nintendo.
I studied maths with a very interesting Japanese method, the Kumon. Fully based in...
A lot of Brzilians really are afraid about beeing confused with the other Latin America countries... It's something from local culture. Brazilians absolutely don't like that expression "South of the border"! (somewhat pejorative, anyway, I think).
Onde a Sra morou aqui?
The most funny trick (and almost everybody tried once or twice) is double exposition covering the lens, so you can appear perfectly several times in the same photo. Croy wrote a lot about a "trick box" to do this, very interesting! Never saw one, had to do my experiences with black paper over...
Sorry my misunderstanding about the census. We had one here in 2010, too.
About the options you gave. First, somebody from Spain wouldn't like - the hispanics are, too, descendants from europeans. Second, in your question you are saying, in fact, that hispanic is the same than latino. If so...
Miss Neecerie,
Brazilians are not hispanic. From all Latin America, Brazil is the only colony not from Spain, but Portugal.
In North and Northeast, you will find descendants from Portuguese, Indians and Africans.
In South, you will find a majority os descendants from Italy, Portugal...
Scottyrocks,
In an old book about photography, Lancelot Vinning explained as he used, when a "Daily Mirror" reporter, to use the hat to take photos of forbidden places. This would be specially useful in court work. Or with executions of death penalties.
Mid-30s saw a little mania about trickery in photography... Several by a German photographer, widely published all over the world until the 60s, Dr Otto Croy. The technics are VERY difficult, and only factible with large negatives. Most of the results I see are just silly. Or not well-done. Or...
Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak.
Hum! I learned English by myself, and ever...
Metal detectors at banks don't like my fountain pen, my pocket watch and, when I'm with it, my camera!! But never any trouble with hat.
(At one airport I had to show the camera, because the guy suspected about smething made of steel. But this is, of course, very different).
Tom, I really never got much trouble about being left-handed. The worst moments were at some exams, with right-handed chairs. I had to sit as a "S" to be able to write, and next days were painful! My exams to become a lawyer was the worst, took almost 5 hours. But nut much than that.
