    Ancestor hat pics

My brother passed away recently and I was looking through some old photos. I ran across this one from my First Communion. My dad always rocked a Fedora, long beyond the time they were commonly fashionable. I really like this pic that was so 1966. Dad sporting his hat and Mom with the mink...

Which word for sweater do you prefer?

And many sources attribute a similar quote to George Bernard Shaw. Like many of these quotes, I'm not sure we will ever have a definitive answer. In my neighborhood it is a sweater.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Pretty sure this one is a Canadian milsurp. I've had it for years and it is one warm sweater! (pullover, jumper, . . .)

    Cheap Hats

It took me a long time for some reason to learn that a hat which is a little too big is probably the right size. I've always hovered between a 7 1/4 and 7 3/8, depending on the hat. I've gained weight and the 3/8 is definitely the better fit for me now. As noted above, fillers in the sweat...

    Movie hats

Downton Abbey I don't know if there's a TV hat thread that this should have been placed in but anyway, I didn't see one. Given the time frame this series encompasses, there are a plethora of hats, both male and female throughout.

How do folks react to your hat wearing?

Several years ago I had one of those sobering experiences. It was a pistol purchase permit and the young admin assistant at the Sherrif's office entered Grey for my hair color. My hair was always dark brown/black for my entire life and despite the fact that I had been greying since my latter...

What hat are you waiting for today?

R Looks great, my friend! It's your hat and you've truly made it yours with what you've done. Pros might do this or that more crisply but if you look at pictures from the Golden Age you'll see that many if not most were free-formed by their owners. Short of forming it completely off center...

Let's try and hit two birds with one stone. I was at the 1964 World's Fair in New York and a major attraction was Sinclair's DinoLand.

    Hat Bands and Pugarees

What Price Glory is selling these RCMP style hatbands out of their eBay store. I was going to get one to replace the ribbon hatband on my Snowy River but found a braided band from Badgery Belts that I like better for my purpose. Seems like a good deal for $18.

Why American Workers Now Dress So Casually

I remember when those multi-colored scarves were all the rage. I think I have a 5th or 6th grade picture wearing one.

What Did You Drink Last Night?

Creston Brewery Grale, Fox Deluxe and Polar Bear. Got to taste a couple of others too. Excellent brew pub in Grand Rapids and they had a great Bluegrass trio playing yesterday too. https://www.crestonbrewery.com/
