Thanks all for the feedback. It seems like "most" people going for a custom hat pay the extra $50 or so for the beaver. I have not seen many go for a lightweight hat in rabbit and I am guessing for apparent reasons. Hard to really get a feel for the difference between the two at least for...

Question on Winchester Felt Beaver vs Rabbit I know this topic has been discussed but I am looking for anyone that did a direct comparison from any of the custom hatters that made them a lightweight hat (extra pouncing) that could provide a 1:1 apples to apples comparison of the felt. In...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Me too...I have been using ebay for 20+ years, shorty after it started. I rarely ever bid at all, prefer the BIN or best offer when shopping. I have tried to bid on a couple hats in the 8 or so months I have been on FL while learning about hats and been sniped on every one which is rather...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Whaaaaat???? Size 7....has to be something up with the bidding? The seller "gunloader55" (Vic) is a FL member and has recently sold several hats on ebay. He had the Art Fawcett Dualist for sale and I believe he bought several VS lids in the beginning of the year. Curios what went on with that...

Good point I was figuring less than $10 but that is east coast and most if not all the hatters are on the west coast! :( I need to just stick with Hat-co outlet hats!

Thanks Belfast and Bob for the reply. I may contact Mike....I am guessing a reblock with 2 way shipping is going to be in the $50-75 range as Bob mentioned, added cost to a hat for sure.

Pre-Owned - Art Fawcett & Northwest Fedoras For Sale: Great condition

Yes, beautiful hats for sure but all a tad too big for me. I agree the VS steel with shark's gill is my favorite (although Iwould prefer a little more brim).

Not sure if this is the thread you are looking for but found this one "Acestor Hat Pics", not specifically for those who served in the "forces" but includes some? https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/ancestor-hat-pics.12625/page-25

This is good to know that to toquilla straw hats can be re-blocked to the desired shape. Does anybody know if it is cost effective for lower priced hats? I know you have the 2 way shipping costs but does anybody have a rough idea of the cost involved?

    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

I don't know much about borsalinos nor any of their sub brands/lines ideally I would love to find a thin ribbon 40s vintage (wide brim, high crown) but unfortunately they appear to demand a premium and are highly sought after. Regardless my question is putting style aside which borsalinos...
