Thanks Steve, I have already been in discussion with Robert. Just trying to make a decision to go for the refurb or toss it (not literally), especially since I already got $ into it due to my poor decision. Knowing the age would help with the decision but you're right up to me.
Missed your...
Going to check out the Resistol roundup, thanks! In the meantime a few pics....still trying to decide if I should go ahead and get it restored or consider it a lost cause....missing liner, needs sweat, minor moth damage and crown ribbon not original (needs replaced). Pros are nice felt and...
Can anybody give me an idea on the dating of this Byer-Rolnick (Resistol) tag?
I messed up an overpaid for this vintage hat that was not in as good condition as I expected despite being in 7 3/8 6" crown and 2 3/4" brim. I am trying to determine if I should spend the $ on a full restoration...
Borsalino Arrived
I snagged this one based on some poor pics and limited info (size and brim width). Quick measuremnts 6" open crown, 2 3/4" brim contrasting thin ribbon (originally thought it needed replaced-poor pics), missing liner. Very soft, thin, smooth and pliable felt. Felt is not...
Adding own ribbon?
After been not looking for hats for a while I got desperate and picked up 2 lids Ilin my size (7 3/8) in a larger brim size of 2 3/4. Waiting for them to arrive but pretty sure they will both need updated ribbons. Can't spend a premium to mail these to a hatter for a refurb...
Jiffy J-1 Hat Steamer

Thanks steur and Daniel for the reply and insight. I started reading some of the 445 pages of the thread and got the feeling of what you replied. I went and purchased a Borsalino based on the dimensions (7 3/8 and 2 3/4 brim) with a few pics with the only pic of the interior being that of the...
I been looking around at pics of some Alessandria's and was wondering if anyone could provide any general info on the top version (missing the "REG.U.S. PAT. OFF." and "Made in Italy By" is the top version most likely a modern hat vs the below being vintage? Is there any date range for the...
Greetings fellow loungers, been away for a while and just been looking at some hats and trying to catch up. Considering to add another all around "outdoor" hat to the rotation along with my Akubra Campdraft and was looking at the Stetson Dune, not 100% thrilled about the crown dimensions but...
@villianofnash
I think unfortunately they may be a bit big for me. Wear size 10 and I just read they run 1/2 size big similar to the red wings. So I guess all yours!
