Found one, a Large, in great shape. My jacket size is a 48-49 and the Large fits me with a little room to spare, although there isn't room for much bulk under it. I'd still like to find an XL. The Longshoreman is just a cool piece of gear. Not practical in the least, but still cool.
Anyone...
I'll try to get pics up over the weekend. Couple of things though: the soles are virtually identical to those on the Iron Rangers. Nice, practical but downright dangeous on ice and snow. These are not a new design or their upscale boots. This model has been around for decades. They used to be...
Earlier this spring I posted looking for recommendations for an honest pair of roper/work boots. Finally decided to pull the trigger on a pair of Red Wing "Pecos" (1178). RW does not stock them so they are US made to order. Wow! Almost too nice to wear for work. They fit like a glove and are...
I am a big fan of Filson and I don't want to begin to count the pieces that I have. All of their US made stuff is top shelf. Other than price, the biggest complaint I hear about Filson is how stiff things are, especially the Oil Tin Cloth.
If you have an issue with the quality of your...
You're not going to wear out that Detroit jacket. People who earn their living working hard outdoors live in them. Construction workers, road workers, farmers, ranchers...they all swear by them. Filson's catalogues look nice but your aren't going to find many working men wearing their jackets...
Really like 1903's and that one is spectacular. Not sure I have ever seen one that has a reinforcement lug but I am not an expert on them. I am willing to bet that rifle is a tack shooter easily capable of hitting a man-size target out to 1000 yards.
I have owned two Beauforts. The first one I ordered according to my (then) jacket size which was 46. Wore it for a year before the jacket shrank. Too small to wear anything but a tee-shirt underneath and sleeves were 3"-4" too short. Gave it to my wife and ordered a size 50, the largest size...
No, I haven't but that is a good idea. Monday morning, first thing. Think they might happen to have a Longshoreman still with tags that they would sell?
Thanks
Just wanted to share a story. Last year Allen Edmonds ran a program soliciting stories about their shoes from customers. They selected ninety stories to be published in a book "Ninety Stories for Ninety Years" published this year in honor of the company's ninety year in business. Recently I...
Every photo I see with someone wearing one looks like they are swimming in it. The issue I have always had with Barbour is their sizing. So if a jacket measures 27" pit-to-pit would you say that is roughy a size 54?
Thank you.
Looking for a Barbour Longshorman in XL or XXL. Have a line on one marked Large (27.5" pit to pit) but according to the Barbour site a Large is a 46. Suggestions where I might find one?
Thanks,
JDG
I bought one of Bean's rag wool sweaters back around 1981 and THAT was a sweater. Tightly woven, heavy but not bulky, pretty much anything anyone could ever ask for. Unfortunately, I "outgrew" it many moons ago. I see they have them again but I don't know if the quality is the same - they are...
When I received my first Aero, a FQHH LHB, I had the same concerns. It was so stiff and tight I could barely get it zipped and I was sure that they had screwed up. I followed suggestions from this forum and the more I wore the better it felt. The jacket will relax when it warms due to your...
I have the same problem with the pre-shrunk and bought a pair of STF: problem solved. Wore them in a warm shower then spent the day wearing them in the yard doing chores. Warning: it takes a while for them to dry completely. Put them back on the following day and the day after. It takes a...
