    Show us your suits

I picked up a 3-piece tuxedo this weekend. It appears to be from the late 30s. It has a button fly. I am working on pictures. Any advice regarding care and dry cleaning would be appreciated. It appears the lapel and vest are silk.

Everyday Women of the Golden Era

I believe this was taken in the late fifties/early sixties. It's a compilation of home movies from my grandparents. The beginning is quite dark, but it lightens up around 3:00. It's extremely long but certainly worth a quick peek! What I find fascinating is how they are playing at 5:20. I...

    What is your setting lotion

I found that skipping the conditioner helped my sets. Unfortunately, my hair is naturally curly, and I need conditioner to keep the frizz down.

Good job! It looks very natural. Did you use pin curls?

    Ladies show us your best.

Thanks ladies, you're too sweet! GHT—The dress has an empire waist with piping in the (empire) seam. I would have to separate the top, bottom, piping, and zipper to let the dress out. It's tightest just above the diaphragm, which is where the empire seam is located. I guess women in the...

    Ladies show us your best.

Here we are at a wedding this summer! My husband's suit is vintage and so is my dress. They were purchased at Ragtime Vintage Clothing in Ottawa (everything together was less than $300). That dress was SOOO tight! Because of the perfect condition it is in, I'm afraid to alter it. I spent...

What motivates you to do your beauty everyday? Lately I cant find any motivation!

Aside from a few differences, I could have written this! I just feel so overwhelmed with the housework and my family. It seems nothing belongs to me anymore, even my identity, because I am vicariously identified by my relationship with the members of my family (his wife and her mom). It's...

    Husband doesn't like 1950's look...

I think (and ladies correct me if I'm wrong) the mid and late 50s included some 'natural' styles. You know, that glowing peaches-and-cream complexion with a nice pink lipstick, a little blush and mascara. I'm not saying you must yield 100% to his preferences; compromise is a two-way street...

How do I get vintage hair after the gym?

Grant Fan - What kind of curls do you get from air drying? If they are nice you could try a center part while gently bringing back the hairline with bobby pins or combs and let it air dry.

    Best Night cream?

For reducing redness, I highly recommend Sudocrem. I apply a very thin layer at night and usually get noticeable results by morning. It is cheap and a little goes a very long way. I would suggest testing it on a small patch to see how your skin likes it.

Can you help me date this item??

Vinyl Clutch I am making an Etsy listing for one of my vinyl clutches and I'm not sure of the era. The inside is Aqua Blue plastic (pretend leather), it is stamped "HONEY BAG" and "Made in U.S.A.". The zipper is metal and brassy. The pull reads "BELL". The hinges of the frame have a stamp...

    Style magazines for ladies?

I've heard of the Milk Cow but I think it's more vintage lifestyle than vintage fashion.

    Feeling Good vs. Looking Good

Thanks everyone. I take 3500 IU of vitamin D in gel capsule form per day. II also take a multi-vitamin mineral pill and lots of fish omegas. I think I need to change my outlook on life as well as the way I feel about myself. I looked into The Secret Language of Feelings and I really like...

    Feeling Good vs. Looking Good

Thank you so much for all your replies. Rudy - Thank you for recommending "The Secret Language of Feelings". I do practice meditation and have explored things like limiting beliefs. I don't know why I never thought of exploring the root of my feelings in my meditation. I will definitely be...

    Feeling Good vs. Looking Good

Gaaaahh! It's happened again! I've harldy blogged or 'lounged' for a year. The pants that I'm wearing today are so torn up you can see my butt cheek!!!! :eusa_doh: I should just re-title this blog 'Battling Depression' because that is what it's starting to look like. I have even picked up...

Who Here Has Switched To the 'No-Poo' Method??

I did CO washing for a few months last summer. While my hair was silky and extremely manageable, it had lost it's ability to hold a curl. I now wash with Suave Naturals hair conditioner almost everyday, and once a week I do a shampoo. I might start going longer between shampoos. I'll see how...
