    Vintage related self-businesses

Hi Amie, sounds very exciting! I 'believe' you may sell the garments you make from sewing patterns as long as you don't try to take credit for the pattern/design. I read a really good article on sewing patterns and copyrights a few years ago but I can't find it now. I believe the copyright...

Drappa - Thank you kindly. I did make the dress several years ago. I don't wear it enough. Villa - Thank you very much. The wedding was lovely but I must say, I was rather startled to see what other ladies were wearing. After all, the wedding took place in a church.

Just a quick pic. If you do this, make sure you put cotton pads (like for removing nail polish) between your skin and the roller otherwise your skin will break out bad!

C-dot - The perm rods dent pretty bad. The plastic band always leaves a very noticeable dent. Since I don't roll to the scalp; the rods hang and the weight pulling tight on the band leaves a dent. These are the types of foam bendy rollers I use. I rolle the hair in a wide section, which I...

Everyday Women of the Golden Era

Thank you ladies. I wish I knew how she styled her hair like that. I noticed the resemblance too, but only recently. I have a recent picture of myself and as soon as I saw it I thought of this picture of my grandma.

Thank you ladies. The permrods were introduced to me by Lolita Haze. They are hard to sleep on, but they make great curls.

Just some haircombs and permrods. I did use bendy foam rollers for the hairline to prevent dents and marks.

    Sewing Lessons & FAQ

crwitt - that's why I'd have laces in the back. It would allow the dress to let out a few inches. And then if the model was smaller, it could be lace closed and then pinned smaller without looking a mess. Sheeplady - He has two interested girls at the moment (small-medium sized ?). But...

    Sewing Lessons & FAQ

omg omg omg omg I'm so excited. A photographer in town has asked to make some pinup outfits for his studio. He would like 2-3 outfits (I'm thinking, a diner dress, a peasant blouse with gathered skirt, and a sailor dress (circle skirt). He wants everything to be an average size so he can pin...

    Sewing Lessons & FAQ

Thank you so much... crwitt - I've just drained the last hot water soak and the water was very clear. I'm doing the salt and vinegar soak now. When that's done I'll be throwing it in the wash with another white scrap to be sure. It would be a shame to put it together only to have it ruined...

These colours don't run!! I'm making a shirt for my husbands friend. It's a western style shirt in dark blue with yellow piping. I am preshrinking and I noticed that my dark blue is running. I don't want my yellow piping to turn vomit/chartreuse after the first wash. I've been soaking my...

The Fashion Incubator also has some great (machine) zipper tutorials. The process is more complicated but the application is easier I find. Here is the tutorials section, http://www.fashion-incubator.com/tutorials/.
