Where does one find rosehip oil? Do you just use the pure oil directly on your face, or dilute it?

Like Lolly said above Trilogy.... and I might also add A'kin Pure Certified Organic Rosehip Oil. Both are very good. I don't know if they sell in the US but I'm sure you can get it online from Australia.

what i do is I put a little water on my face and then I use some drops of Rosehip oil. You can use it as a serum and put a cream on top or not.

just to say that I am very generous in the amount of rosehip oil I use.

If your face is naturally oily, using lemon juice might only make it more oily as it's meant to "dry" out the skin and bleach dark spots. I know Lolly and a couple other ladies here suggested baking soda as a facial scrub, but I would approach that with caution. I tried it and it caused my face to break out terribly with overdrying and flakiness. After it healed, I started using a homemade sugar scrub that I mix with grapeseed and coconut oil. I'm also a big fan of the oil cleansing method so the sugar scrub worked hand-in-hand with that and my face is no longer the oil slick it used to be with the terrible dry patches/redness at the corners of my mouth.

I just use the oil undiluted. It has a pleasant fruity scent and is pale orange, but doesn't stain my skin or fabric (pillowcase, clothing). I bought Divine Essences brand organic first cold press from the health food store. 30ml in a little blue glass bottle with a push squirt top cost 14$ CAD, and it only takes a couple of squirts per night, so 30ml lasts a long time. During the hot months I keep it in the fridge and let it warm up a bit (because it becomes semi-solid when cold) before using it because I don't want it to go rancid.

^ Thanks! I know a shop or 2 around here that would probably sell that, they carry a lot of organic skincare and cosmetics. I may give it a try.

I know what you are going through first hand. I noticed the older I've gotten My skin has become sensitive combination dry and oily (my skin use to be just oily with a few break outs once in awhile). Now my skin is red itchy, broken out, and dry (like I have a sun burn, but do not have a sun burn). I could not stand the way my skin looked or felt. I refused to give up until I found something that finally worked and healed my skin.
I am no expert. Here is what I learned in order to take care of my skin.
I learned I am allergic to soap. The soap I can use has to be vegetable based or soap free. Otherwise my skin will become dry, itchy, and red. And the only body lotions I can use are Palmer's cocoa butter cream, queen helene cocoa butter creme and Pink dandy lotion.

For face
I do not wear foundation since my pores are big and I have not found a foundation to fit my skin type ( sensitive combination skin).
I do use coty face power applied lightly in moderation. I mainly use the face powder to set my penciled in eyebrows.
I am currently looking into the mineral foundations.
I have often been told. I have skin like a china dolls.

For Cleanser
I use the CVS brand of cleanser that is similar to Cetephil. In the summer only. I learned cream cleansers work best for me only in the hot weather months. For winter I use the Cetephil cleanser bar of soap.

Oil removal (since I also have oily skin)
Skin still needs its natural oils otherwise the skin will never learn to repair it self. Here is what I use to make my face less oily. I blot my face with the CVS or Walgreens brand of oil absorbing sheets. I pat my face with one of the oil absorbing sheets and toss. And apply Burt's bees sensitive lotion.

Lotion (my day cream)
Burt's Bees came out with a lotion for sensitive skin. I apply the lotion two times a day in the morning and mid day. I am so happy I stumbled upon the Burt's bees sensitive lotion at Walgreens. At first I thought okay I'll give it a shot what do I have to loose and if it does not work I can still use the lotion as a hand cream. The Burt's bees lotion worked like a dream. The heavens opened up and the hallelujah chorus was singing. Yes!!! My search for face creme to heal my skin was finally over.

Lotion (my night cream)
Rose hip seed oil by Now
I bought mine from amazon here is the link http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0014UAHQW/ref=mp_s_a_1?pi=SL75&qid=1346979750&sr=8-1 I shake the oil out into my hand and rub it on my freshly cleansed face, neck, and eyebrows. It goes on easy not overly greasy and the rose hip oil does not irritate my skin. The smell is plant based, there are no heavy perfumes.

In the morning
I wash my face with the CVS cleanser or cetephil soap bar (depending on the weather as mentioned above). I apply the cleanser to my face rub it in and take a wash cloth run it under very warm (not hot water). I do not squeeze out the water from the wash cloth. I apply the wet wash cloth to my face and pat my face with the wet wash cloth to remove the cleanser. I wet the wash cloth again and wring out the water. And run the wash cloth under the faucet again then apply to my face again I repeat this three times or more to remove the cleanser/soap. Lastly I rinse my face off with cool water without using the wash cloth. I rinse my face eight times this way. Then I pat my face dry and apply the Burt's bees lotion.
I stay away from witch hazel. It will dry out my already dry skin. So for me I use peroxide (once a week or once every two weeks) in its place, it fantastic. I still have break outs just not as badly as I have in the past. And I do tend to fall asleep with make up on. I am trying to curb that bad habbit.
Next
Eyemake up and lipstick. I also stay out of the sun. I always try to carry a purse size umbrella with me to block out the sun and rain. Its so handy.

I was chatting about what we use on our faces with one of my friends and she swears by a daily facial scrub with adzuki bean flour (she says she just puts a table spoon of dried adzuki beans in a spice mill and grinds them up into flour) mixed with water. She says it is what her Japanese grandmother used to do to "keep her skin pale and flawless". Just thought I'd share that one, since I hadn't heard of it before.

For reducing redness, I highly recommend Sudocrem. I apply a very thin layer at night and usually get noticeable results by morning. It is cheap and a little goes a very long way. I would suggest testing it on a small patch to see how your skin likes it.

I changed the facial cleanser, turned out I may be allergic to the cream cleanser I get ton of tiny red pimple-like bumps everywhere on forehead (most sensitive area) so I switched to kirk's original coco castile soap and today is day 3 and I already can see the difference, the red blotches is not as noticeable now and I don't need moisturizer in the morning after wash, my existing acne is shrinking, pores look little better. oily part of the face is not showing up few hours after washing the face, it show up few hours before bedtime. I love this soap!

Fort Worth Gal, did you find it? The Vitamin Shoppe should have it, or perhaps the natural cosmetics section in H.E.B.

You know what? I haven't looked! :eusa_doh: I just haven't had a chance. I think HEB/Central Market or Sunflower Shoppe will have it, though.

Right now I have a couple of jars of other creams I'm trying to use up before I buy anything else. I've been using Lacura brand (Aldi) day & night creams, and I adore them for the price. Especially since Target no longer carries my beloved Boots Original Beauty line.

That is awesome skullChick.

As for me my skin has gone into winter mode.

Winter skin care
I am using the Cetaphil cleansing bar twice a day in the morning and before bed. In the morning I am still using a wet warm wash cloth to cleans my face and finishing off with cool water as mentioned in my previous post.

I had to quit using the rosehip oil. It dried out my face. And my nose broke out with a lot of red spots (pimples) this is the most sensitive area on my face. I always squeeze my spots. The only spots I do not squeeze are the under the skin pimples. My skin always heals without damage when I squeeze my pimples. My mom told me when I was a teenager I should squeeze my pimples. I recently did read in a 1930's beauty book as well as a 1940's Goodhouse keeping magazine stating that one should squeeze their spots. Whenever I squeeze my pimples they form into small scabs. I keep my face clean and moisturized while my spots heal. I learned this is the best thing to do for my skin. In order to heal my skin.

Also I do not use the hydrogen peroxide as often. I learned I only need to use the peroxide when my face becomes to oily and just one time until my face becomes to oily again.

Face scrub
I use the Aveeno skin brightening daily scrub (that is the name) http://www.aveeno.com/facialcare/skin-brightening-daily-scrub . This is the only face scrub that works for my sensitive combination dry and oily skin. I do not use the scrub all the time. I only use the scrub when my face is to dry and flakey no matter how much lotion I apply. And I use the scrub in the bath at night one time. If my skin is still to dry the next evening I'll use the scrub again at night. And will not use the scrub again until my face is to dry flakey no matter how much lotion I put on.

Face cream and night cream
There is a new product Burt's Bee recently came out with and it is the best lotion I have ever used on my face. Its Burt's Bees new Sensitive skin care line. It absolutely worked for my very sensitive dry and oily skin. Which I bought from CVS. And a few Walgreens stores are starting to carry the Burt's Bees Sensitive skin care line.
The only items I use from Burt's Bees new skin care line is the lotion and the night cream http://reviews.burtsbees.com/8993/56528/sensitive-night-cream-reviews/reviews.htm which is triple excellent (I do not work for Burt's Bees this is what worked for my sensitive dry and oil skin).

Body lotion
I quit using the Queen Helene Cocoa butter creme, it started to clog my pores. I still using Pink Dandy lotion and Palmer's Cocoa butter line which always works on my very dry skin. Palmer's Cocoa butter line is a truly fantastic. I never have a problem with Palmer's Cocoa butter.

I normally have somewhat oily combination skin. I use cold cream to remove makeup, witch hazel for toner, and Nivea creme in the blue tin. I haven't had any oiliness and my skin is smooth and clear.

The best cleanser I use is plain almond oil with the hot cloth method. I have very dry skin but work in a grubby environment so get blackheads. It works wonders, is soothing, and because of the hot flannel, it steams my skin clean too. An no horrible additives either.
I then use a bit of vaseline at night.

There's a thread here somewhere where we discussed this method in detail.

Hi Everyone! I hear ya and know what you’re going through. If I were to tell you my personal story about my complexion and all the products that I’ve tried it would be alarming. On the bright side here is a small list that I hope helps with night creams.

Syknn Iceland Detox Kit for Stressed Skin

Perricone Md has some nice products

Skin Ceuticals Renew Overnight is good if you are looking for moisturizing and a gentle exfoliate with anti-aging benefits.

The next I’m in love with The Miracle cream La Mer, the original moisturizer. Yes, it is pricy but worth saving for.

Remember samples, research, and gut instinct are the 3 best tools for finding your favorite moisturizers.

^ I found the original La Mer to be too heavy for my skin. It really reminds me of the blue Nivea tins as far as texture and fragrance. I suspect the ingredients are similar. However, I *love* La Mer Concentrate. Horribly expensive, though. I'm going through a bout of eczema right now and it definitely helps with the dryness.

Right now I'm using BabyGanics Bye Bye Dry baby wash and eczema baby cream on my face. Around $6 each at Walgreens, lots of good ingredients and very gentle. Intended for babies, but as I said I'm having issues (for the first time in my life!) with eczema and the pharmacist recommended these. So far so good!

That is why there are 2 categories either you are a La Mer Devotee or not one. Besides everyone’s complexions are as different as peoples personalities. That is why there are many products on the market.:eusa_clap

Ponds to the rescue

My skin has become very sensitive since menopause. I've found that any cream with wrinkle fighters or sunscreen will have my skin red, itchy and raw. The last time this happened I grabbed the Ponds and found it didn't burn or irritate my inflamed skin. I use Ponds cold cream to remove make up at night and then a nice application of the moisture cream. In the morning, I was my face with Dove sensitive skin soap just to get the left over mascara and gunk off my face and then it's Olay eye serum (which is ver soothing when the skin near my lash line is raw) and then the Ponds. I let it soak in and then apply my make up. So far, all is well and no issues. With winter coming here in the Midwest, the extra moisture will help keep my skin in great shape.

Since I can't use creams with wrinkle fighters/correctors, I have embraced my lines and wrinkles. They aren't that bad really and I think I look pretty darn good for "Double Nickels".
