I’m fairly sure any spirit based wood dye will work and it doesn’t rub off like some leather dyes do, although I remember I did give it a light coat of Fiebings ‘bag kote’ when it was dry.
A mix of these - I tried out various proportions on a scrap piece of leather until just right then applied with fine steel wool rubbing gently all over and harder in places that should show wear and tear.
I’ve show these pics before on TFL on a ‘manbag’ thread but for those of you who haven’t seen them here’s my USPS Mail satchel. I bought it cheap from eBay.com as it was missing it’s front flap. I used the skills I picked up on a one day leather skills course at the identity store in Matlock UK...
I’m not sure about felt but I’m sure someone on here will. I’ve had good results with straw and cotton Panama’s - I spray them with water and gently pull them onto an upturned Pyrex bowl that’s roughly 7 3/8 - my hat size. I let them dry in situ and when I remove them they fit

If you search on eBay for M421 jacket two makers not mentioned here Wtaps and Haley Enterprises come up. In fact If you’re quick you’ll see a 38” Buzz Rickson M421A and an original HL Block in a 36” chest
I’ve only reproofed a Barbour wax jacket once and I followed the online help videos using their ‘thornproof dressing’. Once I’d finished the application of the melted dressing I finished by ‘blow drying’ it with a hot hair dryer and got a factory no shine finish. Ps never do this to a leather jacket
Looks great to me, but it’s what you think that matters. Fit is very much a personal taste and is also style dependant so be aware now that others with different tastes may make other comments about how they think a board racer should fit.
On a jacket that isn’t vintage I’ve just used a couple of baby wipes to remove any surface dirt and when dry (in minutes) I’ve not used any conditioner unless the surface looked dull or dry. In these cases I’ve used a very light application of Pecard and when that ran out - recently, Vaseline...
Abbey leather sells high quality fittings - you might find an identical or similar buckle to an original on their website?

I bought a Real McCoy’s L2A recently and the original zipper had been replaced with a nylon coil zip. I’ve replaced this with a ‘UK’ silver YKK (chromed brass with male side on the right). I attached the male side to the left and the female side to the right to hide the YKK on the stopper box...

still for sale - buyer has pulled out - politely.
I lost my wedding ring somewhere in the garden while fixing furniture. My wife Liz suggested I should have my 18th Birthday ring (from my dad r.i.p.) remodelled. As it was a Sovereign in a filigree setting which I never wear it seemed a good idea so I had a Goldsmith make this one for me.its...
