Just trying to remold the jacket to my body and the lapel folds to my liking.
Thanks Monitor! That’s kind of what I imagined might happened. Little tiny pellet of balled up wool inside the quilting. Not good.
Good thing this jacket still had the material tag otherwise I would have dunked it!
I've comfortably done the water soak / bathe on various leather jackets before but none that have had a quilted lining and Im a bit hesitant. Any pitfalls when dealing with this kind of lining? Specifically, a vintage leather jacket with the inner quilting fibers actually made of wool and not...
In my experience, after break in, the Vicenza will always "drape" better and kind of flow. The CXL, either Steer or Horse, will "mold" better and keep a semi firm memory. Kind of like comparing a structured blazer/shoe vs unstructured. Two clearly different things but each has its purpose. For...
Another vintage pickup arriving this week. Found my black CR last week with the AMF Harley Sportster and now this basic Brooks CR for brown. If only they had Cordovan and not "Thriller Red" back then, Id be all set!
Two light coats of pecards in and it still wants more. Some areas are softening / regaining that more flexible leather feel while others are a bit armor like. It's like they strategically used noticeable thicker hides on the arms. Seems like AMF took Harley in 1969, so Im guessing this jacket...
Was thinking the same thing. Regius the jacket baller! Hopefully with a better keeper ratio than me! I'm 2 for 4 the past two weeks but it could be worse I suppose!
Dig the jacket but I think Dierk's took some rubbing alcohol / acetone to that one! Just seems a bit excessive "patina". I also picked up a HD that should arrive sometime this week. Some surprisingly good jacket finds lately considering its summer.
Had a stroke of genius in my research last night. Gave myself my own clue when I read back my post. Searched up the patent # and found it was filed in 1954. Jacket is a simple single rider HD horsehide but has different zips from all others Ive seen. The 70's ones usually had Talon I think...
Curious to see if any of you guys can date this zipper. I've never seen a Scovill like it before, especially the nifty mating of bottom box/puller on the main zip. Even has what looks like a Pat# engraved.
I briefly owned one for about 6mths. Purchased it online from RRL, button up style very similar to an aero premier work coat. In photos, it “looked” like great leather but I was super dissapointed in person. Stiff, dry, matte feeling leather. Like the distressed finish was painted on and then...
Only 46 now ;) Thanks Boyo. Im giving that 42 a try! They say the first step to curing addiction is admitting the problem. Buying a sheepskin coat on the first day of summer is perfectly normal right ?! ha
True. Some variation, id say <1/2 inch is acceptable. At 1/2 or more no go.
But this specific case should have had 0 variation since the jacket was already made up / a written hang tag was wrote up w measurements. Aero did get back to me this morning and provided shipping / DHL back to them...
It's definitely being sent back as Aero advertised a Size 40 w 22.75 pit but it's actually a 23.5 (probably 23.75). So it threw the fit off. I would have kept it otherwise and let the long arms/body crease up/wrinkle as it broke in. Emailed them Thursday night and still no response. Kind of...
Purchased from JMax. Back up for sale by me. Catch release. $400 shipped in CONUS w paypal FF.
This is the perfect riding jacket but my recently acquired Force has won my heart. Along with my Chopper remake when it arrives, leaves the HC out of rotation.
