Actually that helps a lot. I'm a 40 in Teamster, LHB, Northeaster and a 42 in the Sunburst. Oddly a 44 in M422a. But Im thinking a 40 Irvin would be the safe choice. Not like Im trying to layer a wool sweater under shearling. At most a long sleeve thermal type shirt.
Any of you guys have experience on how they fit? Specifically size 40/42. Actual measurement would be great as well. Im assuming these are built/sized to account for the shearling width inside so no need to size up from one's usual Aero tag size?
Im tempted by this one as it should be a really good fit but that bottom zip tear is killing me. Just had that happen on my vintage Vanson Force and there's no way around it. Once it starts, the tear only gets worse real quick on heavy jackets. $150 new zip repair job by the time you ship it...
Will snap a pic when I get a chance but I do own Vicenza, FQHH, and Steer Aeros. Still in the keeper collection and multiple others that have been rotated out. In my experienced based opinion, the Vicenza is my least preferred option and I would never pay extra for it. Even if it was equal...
Exactly what I learned after my first couple Aero's delivered to USA. I also was hit for a returned jacket and DHL actually threatened w a collection agency. Such a scam. Always specify in your order instructions that it be delivered via ParcelForce only. Aero has always obliged with no fuss...
I'm pretty sure Vanson revised their Comet pattern in the last couple years to be slightly longer / more modern. It used to be an old school 80's high waisted jeans super short cafe racer but now appears to be perfect length for on bike use. My size 40 Armored Comet is just about 25" back...
If you’re talking about the standard aero Talon repro zippers, I believe they’re all base metal. Nothing that’s going to really change / patina like the old vintage zippers made of actual metal. Even current YKKs seem to age more in my order experience.
If the zip detail truly matters to you...
Curious to know if anyone has experience with Aero Mouton and how color stable the fur is. Specifically in harsh sun / UV. Thinking about attempting a sun tan/vintage look on two of Aeros collars and just want to confirm the possible outcome. Black mouton and Rust.
Hey Seb. It does not. Staying true to that early 70s vibe with just upper chest pockets and slightly longer length body. No handwarmers on mine, but I believe Vanson also has a 4pocket version of this in X150. For me, this one 99% checked all my preferred requests but in a stock jacket with no...
Here’s what I’m getting for actuals...
Bottom Hem 20
Back Length 26.25 (from base of collar)
Shoulder 19
Sleeve 26 (along curve)
Pit 21.5
This is the smallest pit-pit I’ve taken but it makes sense / fits good with the full length action back.
Sure thing, will take measurements when I’m back home and post up for reference.
Re the Brooks. It was my recent brown gold label purchase that cemented my decision to purchase a black Mohawk. It’s like a new improved fit / tweaked Brooks with much better leather and construction. The Brooks...
During my hunt for a modern production / fit cafe racer I stumbled upon the relatively unseen (at least to me) Vanson Mohawk. Figured Id give the Lounge some info on it given I couldn't really find much prior to purchase.
Full action back, one large back panel, 2 pocket chest, high set main...
I was also tempted by that sale page natty CXL, glad someone else pulled the trigger! Love to see someone post pics after a truly broken in hooch hauler and comment how the unique pointed wide half belt back turns out. When the leather is new stiff, it looks excellent but what about once it’s...
Thanks for replying and confirming my theory about this being an older stock white label harley late 60's jacket that was either tagged from the factory when AMF took over or the prior owner replaced a worn label with the black AMF one (seen these labels available on eBay). Its a shame yours is...
I'm in the same boat as many others. I "had" a heavy beast before coming to my senses. 10.5 lb SB half belt in Horween black Bison. Broke in nice and supple but was like holding a weight plate when taking it off and placing on the hanger. Though I probably would have kept it if I didn't have...
Thats the one. Going to look amazing when broken in. It's twin / improved brother is finally due to arrive within a week or so. Fingers and toes crossed!!
Another vote for an off the shelf armored Vanson Force or an armored Comet. I probably grab the Comet more often though, just an easy to wear no bs bike jacket. And the two inside zip pockets are perfect for keys/wallet.
Speaking of Vanson, they have a 15% off sale going on this weekend. I pulled the trigger on a Mohawk Cafe Racer, two pocket version without handwarmers. Hoping this slimmer pattern works better for me vs the Aero CR I tried / returned.
