I've been meaning for a long time to get myself a pair of Mexican-made huarache shoes. Closed front, possibly laced, and car tire soles.
If I can find those I'll be a very happy guy.
Love Elvis' mounted police trousers in that pic!
I've ordered some 3M silver fabric tape that I'm planning to sew on the side of a pair of blue chinos, to use as biking pants. Hope I won't look too much of a weirdo in them!
If you can find replacement pins, then all you have to do is unstitch the zipper at the bottom, so you can expose the undamaged part of the zipper tape, next to the frayed part, and add the reinfrocement tape (perhaps both if front of and behind the damaged portion).
I ordered once from rakuten about a year ago, from a shop called Wild Hearts for a leather wallet strap.
I think I went through the whole order process using Google Translate. Everything went fine, and the shipping didn't take too long (way less than when ordering from China).
Only minor issue...
The upside, if you do this, is you can choose a funky lining of your preference. I've always liked those silk escape maps (original ones that one can still find for cheap, not repros) used as linings, for example.
I hate it when that happens!
I wonder if it is possible to pry open the male bottom pin, in order to place a thin fabric backing on the zipper tape, and then crimp the pin back in place.
I am thinking of installing air vents on a shearling lined jacket I have.
I'm not sure if I should place a leather patch over the wool, or have the rivet just sit on the shearling.
Could any Irving jacket owner check (or better yet post a pic of) the armpit vents on the inside side of their jacket?
