Speaking frankly about those "rules", aren't wristwatches a superfluous item themselves, in today's age and time?
I don't see much difference in bracelets that tell time and those which don't, and wear both regularly.
I don't know if these have been posted before, but they seem to be of very good quality.

I was thinking of purchasing them at one point, for collection purposes. Then I...
What do you folks know about them?
I would assume they were common among the working class in the early 40s.
Below are two variations of Norman Rockwell's Freedom of Speech (1943):
Pretty cool looking I think, although I would be way too hairy to be able to wear one (ouch!)!
Hey folks,
a while ago I purchased this vintage advertising neon clock, made for Ace Music - CD & Juke Boxes.
I am completely unaware of the clock age. It still lights up (purple neon light), but the movement is not working (it shouldn't take too much to get it running though). The person I...
I guess that depends.
I can't comment on recent production, but I bought a pair in 2006 and they held up very well for several years.
On another note, I see no-one has yet mentioned Spring Courts. They're the sneakers worn by Lennon on the cover of Abby Road...
Random question. Are you supposed to slide your belt through the patch on the back on your blue jeans, when it is not sewn on the sides?
Do you folks do that?
Personally I don't, but I don't know if there is a "correct" way.
Hey folks,
I recently bought a 1970s wood baseball bat at a flea market, with stickers on it of the local baseball team (Parmalat). The bat is not straight any more: it is slightly curved.
I am wondering what caused that: was it hard use? Or storing environment?
Any ideas how I could go about...
As for the leather, for a long trucker wallet I would choose a thick cowhide.
Like Lukas wrote above me, the tanning and stitching used is important.
I've been wanting to buy one of those for myself and, after some emails exchanges, have chosen an online vendor/artisan whose work seems really...
Hey folks,
I don't hang out much in the hat room, as I am not really into fedoras. I own however, a few driving caps, and I have a question about the construction of one I bought in Palermo, Sicily, about a year and a half ago (technically, it's a "coppola" hat).
I bought it in a little...
Italy, reporting in. Leather jackets seem to be "hip" over here now, much to my chagrin. Of course it's a plethora of overpriced fashion-style paper-thin made-in-a-Pakistani-sweatshop junk. Actually I'm pretty sure a good 35% is not even real leather.
I really like Nike Waffles. I got mine from JCrew:

Or you could go really old school and wear Converses. Though I don't recommend running in them, Rocky did so!
Thanks for the replies, folks.
The issue is, this belt is of the kind where the end segment on each side is narrower than the middle part (1 inch vs 1.5 in the middle). Kind of like a ranger belt without double layers.
That is why I was thinking of shrinking instead of altering it (to retain its...
Has anyone ever attempted to shrink a leather belt?
I was thinking maybe the hot water/dryer treatment.
Need to shrink it a size or so, I'd say abot two inches total in lenght.
A couple of years ago I attended an astronomy conference where the relator briefly touched the issue, stating that with current technology, the "defrosting" part would do a lot of tissue damage because it would destroy the cell cores (roughly translated).
Anyway, I did some research about the...
Hey folks,
I have always liked old cast-iron sewing machines, and now that I will soon be moving into a new apartment I decided I'll to get myself one, both for display and the occasional sewing job.
I am drawn towards the Singer "hand crank" ones, as the totally manual mechanism appeals to me...
