Very nice .... as you say LOTS of New Crhistmas Jackets .... wear it well.
Loving the grain on the goat .... there's some mighty fine leathers out there from the various manufacturers
P.S. Nice boots as well :D
VERY nice Andy ... and I'm not usually a button up jacket fan unless it's a boxy 60's car coat :D
Loving the H&L Block label ..... now one that looks a bit more party'd in straight out of the box and you'd have yourself an order :D :D :D
Have a Great Xmas and an even better 2014...
Great Jackets .. wear them well, they really suit you.
Not the most flattering picture of a Donkey Jacket I've ever see Craig :D ( I take it you're not a fan) .... some more interesting versions :

Very nice .... I love that repro "Californian" label ... it's a technique more repro manufacturers should use ( given obviously the consideration that the original manufacturer has gone out of business or has ceased to trade .. .similar to what is done with repro A-2's )
Wear it well ..... :D
There are typically 3 tests used for abrasion resistance of materials ( including leather ) under the new(ish) EU std. for motorcycle clothing - ( rotating platform (basically sanding and usually a Taber type test), drag and tear) . There is also a more generic ASTM test - D7255 testing ( Taber...
I have to say I have seldom had poor service from any of the major repro manufacturers and csan compliment Eastman, Lost Worlds, Aero, Alexanders, Bill Kelso and Schott as those I have had to go back to on occasion. NONE have ever given bad service ( and I mean NONE).
I have a basic principle...
I have to say I've had a few of the Connolly hide Aero Highwayman jackets .. in fact still have a very early one and Ken actually purchased one from me on ebay about 18 months ago. They were IMHO the "Original" Highwayman. Struck through soft yet tough hide which developed amazing patina and was...
My most expensive leather wasn't a repro but a Motorcycle racing suit from British manufacturers BKS at £1600 ($2600) ..... it was custom made and was stunning ( till it was cut from my body ) .... but it did it's job well.
I paid £860 for a B-3 from Stu at lost worlds and I have paid £5-600...
Genuine question guys .. following on from recent posts. I must have handled 1000's of leather jackets ( vintage and non vintage in almost 30 years of collecting them in various guises). Of those which I have owned and seen in various collections I cannot recall EVER seeing a vintage jacket...
Sorry for the thread hi-jack ..... it's a FAB jacket, suits you and a great design / fit. Wear it well :D
Back to Sloanies point.
I have no idea if there's any exclusive arrangement with Ken and Aero, Craig .... all I know is that other manufacturers have access and actually have produced...
Not sure that's strictly true Craig ... many manufacturers have access to CXL Horse ... just not AL currently. Equally CXL Horse is used in many processes not just jacket manufacture.
Having seen both production processes the very best Horsehides go into manufacture of cordovan shells for...
I generally have two inside pockets in my jackets ( a la G-1 rather than in the lining on waist length jackets, in the lining in longer jackets e.g. Vest De Rally).
G-1 style pockets ... single stud fastener .... never had it show through but never really been bothered if it does either...
Owned 5 Aero ones all bought on ebay or through VLJ
Brown FQHH 44" - 1999 and the heaviest jacket I have ever owned
Black FQHH 44" -1999
Black Heavy Steer 42" - 2000
Brown Heavy Steer 42" - late 1990's
Cordovan FQHH 42" - early noughties
.. 2 Thunder Bay ( Aero's lower end brand)...
Have to say the two Alpha M-65's I have ( one green - one black) are excellent and compare very favoutably to a 1960's vintage original. The green one shows slight pilling on high traffic areas ( elbow) but nothing major .. funilly the black one is not showing any of this ( the label suggests...
I have to say I preferred the cord ... but it was a little "grabby" when putting the jacket on or taking it off ! The satin quilt just wasn't very durable and pulled and wore through at the hip ( rubbing on belt loops) within a couple of years of intermittent wear ( not even every day wear)...
If that's a jacket from THIS summer then that's NOT normal wear for a CXL jacket ( and I've owned a fair few) looking at the zip facings and cuff it looks 20 years old never mind 6 months old.
I have a CXL half belt from Aero which is 9 years old and shows NO significant fading just very...
I've had 4 aeros with shearling / sheepskin lining. My two longshoreman jackets has differing linings due to their differing age the black one from 2002 had green satin quilted lining. The dark brown one from 2004 had brown cord lining in the sleeves ( both were lined in the same material in the...
