Yes, I forgot about Woolrich, great stuff, but hard to find and expensive up here. I did visit the factory outlet in Woolrich PA a few years back, great deals there.

I don't know what the work wear market is like in OZ, up here in Canada we have three basic choices, Carhartt, Tough Duck, and Denver Hayes (Mark's Workwear house brand). Carhartt wins hands down. The others are slightly cheaper imitators, that lose out on style and fit. I still have my 25 year...
Pecards works well, and they have one that is tinted brown that will darken a bit more. I have heard that Neats foot Oil can deteriorate cotton thread, but I have never seen it happen, and have no idea how long it would take to cause any damage, if at all.

I agree with Dean, unless I earned it, it doesn't belong on my jacket. The only jacket I have with an AAF decal is my B3, bought used, which only comes out when it's -20 degrees, so no one really sees it anyway.

I doubt that eBay seller is trying to flog it as an Aero. Old eBay standard listing trick. Put as many related words in the title as you can so it shows up in more search's. I'll bet there are a lot more people out there searching for Aero's than AL's and if this was to pop up in their search...
That's a new one! I wear Clark's desert boots just about every day. They're nothing like the "Peter Pan get away boots" some people wore back in high school.
I just say thanks and move on. If nobody makes a big deal out of it, the idiot goes away with his tail between his legs and feels stupid. And hey, don't belittle the Biltmore,it's a great hat with a proud heritage! (unfortunately bought out by DP and moved out of Canada, but that's another...
Goat, cow, horse, steer are all good choices, I'd stay away from lamb if it has to take some abuse. The goat will still be looking closest to new in 5 years time, you'll likely get more patina out of the others. My suggestion is to go try on as many styles as you can and decide what you like...
In my experience, Shaul estimates on the large side. I sent him my measurements way back when I bought an A-2 from him and he sent me a 46 that I was swimming in. Sent it back for a 44R and it was prefect. For comparison, I'm 5'10", and was about 230 lbs at the time (considerably lighter than...
Love the B6 as well, don't get one with B3 weight sheep. The extra bulk in the action back with the heavier fleece makes it very uncomfortable to wear and makes you look like a hunch back. It was made with lighter weight fleece for a reason. I had one from US Authentic made this way, traded it...
D1 gets worn walking the dog almost every day in the winter, B3 only comes out once in a while. When it's cold enough to wear the B3 I go for the B9 parka instead. It's longer, lighter and has a hood.
I live in Canada and still find B3 too heavy for most winter days.

As I mentioned above, I've owned both an A2 and a B6 from USA, and they were nice, solid jackets, but not really close enough. The leather on the A2 was heavy and soft, quite comfortable, but the color was off. It was supposed to be seal brown, but it was kind of a sickly grey brown, not very...
I have dyed a leather jacket using Fiebing's leather dye. That was from a faded out OX blood to a dark brown and it came out looking great, going from white to brown you'll have to be careful to blend it smoothly so it doesn't come out streaky.
Roll of the dice on the outcome.
Hi Xopher,
As Worf said, USA makes good solid products, but they are not in the running if you're after authenticity. I had one of their A2's and one of their B6's, both have since moved on to new homes. Well built jackets, just not up to the details of the big names.
What size do you wear? I...
Hey de Stokesay,
Good to see another CVMGer on the board. I have read about your G on W rides in the club news letters, sounds like a blast. Oldest thing I could bring to the party is my '62 Norton ES2, almost modern by your standards.
keep 'em rollin'.

I received a PM from Andy and I'll contact him to sort things out. I ordered a 46 and it fits perfectly in the chest and shoulders, I don't see ordering a smaller size. I'm sure the fit is better on Andrew, he's about 6' 1" or 2" as I recalled, that would make all the difference in the length...
I would have to agree with Jeff on the fit Andy. Mine is exactly the same. Too long in the body, too long in the sleeves, the sleeves are way to baggie, and the waist knit is fitted far too loose and looks like pictures you see of old worn out navy jackets, not brand new ones. All of these...
I agree with Rathdown, Bought my Belstaff Trialmaster about '92, wore it as my main riding jacket for years in all kind of foul weather and still use it today if it's wet and crappy out. It looks great, never been re-waxed, can't imagine it ever will be. When it was brand new it felt gummy and...
Here is a quick shot of my latest little "plinker".
Winchester Model 1904, chamber is .22 short, long and extra-long. Manufacture date somewhere between 1914 and 1924, it's a bit hard to tell for sure since they didn't serial number them. The shipping crate matches.
If anyone has any more...
Where did you hear not to wear leather in the rain? The cows, horses, sheep and goats never took their hides off when it rained!
Properly finished, quality leather wear will take an incredible beating and come out the other end looking better for it. If a leather gets looking dry you can always...
