They are very good on arches, and the whole boot is flexible. I have a standard brown leather and a suede pair and have worn them in heavy rain without a problem. They do come up a bit big so I size down 1/2 a size, usually I'm a UK 10.5 but the UK 10 (USA 11, EUR 44) are perfect.
Not vintage in any way but possibly the most comfortable walking boot I've ever had on my feet. Caterpillar Depict - the orthotic footbed is heaven! Best thing is, they are all over eBay at very discounted prices.

Graemsay - Excellent post, full of useful links. As for 21oz denim, when I first got my IH 634's I thought id made a very expensive mistake and I'd never get used to the weight and stiffness. Once they soften up, stretch out (gained 1" in the waist) and mould to the body, they just feel right...
Very nice indeed and a great fit! Good to see this hide finally being modelled out in the wild, so to speak. It's a nice dark rich colour and looks as if it will start showing it's grain very quickly. Could I ask how it compares to Aero's heavy front quarter and medium weight horse hides...
Thanks, I think Aero have hit the mark with this new range. Their original patterns with the wider arms, low arm holes and fuller backs have been an issue for some in the past, so a slimmer vintage fit and look is a shrewd move. As I mentioned before, it's like finding a mint vintage jacket...
Oops, sorry mate! I still stand my statement though that £134 for Red Wings was a steal, I should have paid more attention to the model you were buying. My Iron Rangers are fine now, but as Griff suggested I needed to soak them through and then go for hike to break them in :-)
+1 These are basically clogs, move them on. At the other end of the comfort scale have a look a Anatomic&co, their Colorado boots are like slippers! The tobacco suede are perfect for the Steve McQueen look :-)
'overhyped garbage' Now there's a phrase I would never have associated with this product. Yes it's very heavy stuff and it won't be suitable for many, but the sheer quality of it is light years away from anything else I've seen and handled and I've handled a lot of hides over the years. That...
Ha ha, thanks for the comments and support chaps. Photos showing jacket length can be a little bit misleading depending on if you've just hitched your jeans up or let them settle a while. It's only by wearing a jacket for a bit that you get the true feel for if it works or not. For me a long...
After a long and stressful wait, the final remake of Aero’s new pattern the “Premier slim fit 1930’s half belt” finally arrived. I’m sure many of you realized this was never just about the incorrect length, but also a pattern issue that some of the more eagle eyed of you might have spotted...
Break out the tar and feathers! Doesn't he know he has to have a short one, long one, heavy one, medium weight one, black, brown, zipped, buttoned, horse, steer, goat and kudu and that's just the half belts. Then there are the A-2 contracts for goodness sake! Get ordering :-)
I bought a medium size Pike Bros N1 Deck jacket when I was up at Aero. At 5'11" I usually take a large in most jackets but the large N1 swamped me - big across the shoulders, chest and very long arms. Having said that, the medium is quite snug fitting so no layering possible. They should do a...
