Might as well mention the Aero production team's target sizes for a 44" Cafe Racer jacket too, as that was also provided:
Back 26.75 / Sleeves 25.25 / Pit to Pit 23 / Shoulders 19.5
That's exactly what I thought after looking at over a dozen Aero Cafe Racer jackets on Fedora and on Thurston's sites. I asked Holly if they'd changed the pattern or made different jackets for Thurston's, but the answer I received today was no. She wondered if measuring is done differently?
Just an update on where I'm at on this jacket:
So it's clear I need slightly bigger (wider) sleeves, and about an extra inch on the PtP measurement over my fit jacket. I asked what size the 46" jacket is likely to be, and I'm told:
Back 27.25 / sleeves 25.5 / Pit to Pit 24 / Shoulders 20.5...
That website is so 1990s! haha. Products look good, if not so good as the higher end stuff. Good prices. More pics, clearer pics, more info, and a less antiquated site would help
Seems the Equus belt prices have TREBLED in the last 6 years, judging by a couple of reviews I've found. Yowzers. Missed the boat on this one. Would have been all over these at £35 a pop....
They do look like bloody nice belts, tick all the boxes for me. I'd just rather not pay over £100! haha. Dammit, I probably will though... I hate to think how much I've spent on leather products in the last year or so!
In England I've always found it hard to buy a great belt for jeans, without a silly price tag. Wide, thick, doesn't compress down, full grain, double pin without the stupid roller. Not a fan of the chicago fastening either really, would rather it was just made to length and sewn in place. I...
I'm trying to spec quite a similar jacket with Aero at the moment, making a Cafe Racer look more like a J-100. I think the Board Racer has an advantage for me in its chest to shoulder ratio- the shoulders aren't so wide, while the Cafe Racer tends towards extra wide shoulders. The BR does not...
I received an envelope with 10 or so brown and cordovan leathers from Aero today :D
There's huge variation between them all, from the lightweights to the steerhide to the goatskin.
Played around with them a bit, and noticed they look very different indoors to out in the sunshine. My initial...
Those are 4 cool jackets. Which was most comfortable? And which was your favourite? In those pics I'd say bottom left looks best but I don't know if it is too tight..
Had a good chat on the phone with Dom and Denny just now, interesting hearing from Denny the reasoning behind certain things such as the designs and the way some things are done the way they are. I think he might have succeeded in talking me out of the corduroy lining in the cuffs- with the way...
Yeah, it does seem tight doesn't it!! PtP and arms are all I need to be more spacious, shoulders and waist were fine. Even a board racer on Thurston is much more forgiving around the chest in 44", which it isn't 'supposed' to be:
Pit-to-pit--24 inches
Shoulder--18.25 inches
Waist/bottom...
Fit jacket measurements are courtesy of Aero, though I did double check them. The only measurement that is mine is the waist, as I was curious to see if the circumference changed from stomach to opening, which it did not. The measurements of the other jacket are from Thurston's website, and...
How consistent are sizings for Aero jackets? Here's the Aero Cafe Racer measurements advertised on thurston vs my fit jacket. Both 44".
Pit-to-pit--25 inches/ 22.5
Shoulder--20.25 inches/ 19.75
Waist/bottom hem--21.25 inches/ 20.25
That's a full 2 sizes difference, surely?!
It's a bugger isn't it. Everything seems built for skinny folk these days. I have to buy obscure jeans because I can't find anything in the shops that will fit over my thighs and arse. Even Iron Heart only sell a couple of styles that will fit, and that lumbers me with a high front rise that...
I had a jacket before, when I lived abroad, that had zip pulls that when folded down flat would stay in place, until you flicked the pull back up again from the housing. To prevent pickpocketing in Vietnam I had hidden zipped pockets fitted in some shorts and trousers, and these all did the...
