'Authentic', 'Vintage', 'Classic', 'Original' They are only words that can be manipulated however the writer wishes to convey. Describe something using all of them and the object of desire is probably nothing like the description.
...Should my life lead to a natural end and I wore a jacket every day for the rest that life, I would never be able to wear any out beyond further use.
Come to think of it I would like to imagine I could wear my teamster every day and THAT one would probably never wear out:eek:
I guess the improvement in insulating materials is why B3s, D1s etc are no longer used for intended purposes(mainly out of cockpit) except for us posers:p. I have not seen anyone on an antarctic exploration done up in Irvins etc as a clothing item of choice.
I don't really want to join another...
I have both. A big old puff jacket like an MA1with a man made shell, Viscose possibly. The filling is pure down and feather and not a skinny thing, about the same size and thickness as a B3.
Looks: B3 wind hands down.
Warmth: Equal easy, maybe puffer slightly warmer.
Comfort: B3, I can lounge...
Yes go with vertical close, 1 or 2, no fastening, just 'slip in' though most jackets generally have 1. And don't overstuff them or it will look like you have tits. Or moobs as we are supposed to say these days ;)
Yes it's gorgeous, don't know how long it will last before I get a hole around the waist area though.
I really loved their green satin that was used in the old Longshoreman, though they changed to corduroy for the very reason it was a bit fragile. I was shown this(called 'shot silk' in Great...
Seen it before, love it :) Yours is pretty much the prototype of Aero's Thunder. This one has snap cuffs, am I correct?
Here is a pic I posted earlier of my original. Have to say I prefer the finish to my pockets but mainly because my highway and Teamster have your version. Nice to has some...
Don't think I would have wanted one for the spring, but it doesn't get to hot in England so it will get a fair bit of wear over the year.
The belt. No I did not specify anything, it buckles centrally on that 4th hole, then again so does my original though the wider width looks a little better. I...
I take an Aero 42 normally, Teamster, Highwayman. This is a comfortable 44 with some 1/2 off the sleeve length of the standard to compensate for the extra sizing.
My left arm is around 1/2 difference to my right, I only noticed this at a bespoke tailors having an overcoat altered but also...
No proper pics at the moment. It's an outdoor jacket so it has to be outdoor pics or at least something using a prop. No beer in the house and I'm cooking dinner so you will have to make do with a relax v Zombie Strangle. The other pics are selfies but not correctly set up, took too low.
The...
I've had this a couple of weeks now and wanted to get a bit of wear into it. Ordered during the Grand Theft Sale I got the special deal going for the day only.
The jacket is basically a Thunderbay with sheep lining with a few little custom touches based on a sample I supplied for them to work...
Personally I find the zip breast pocket breaks up the monotony of the plain front of the Highwayman jacket, compare it with the body of Aero's Happy Days jacket. I don't use mine and keep it in the closed position.
As for the Teamster. The stock jacket does not come with a breast zip pocket.
If you went for the Aero, could you not get wider cuffs? I have an Eastman and there are pleats at the cuffs, I imagine Aero's is the same so they could fit a wider size.
I like both.
Both look great but in the 'passive stance' the Eastman sleeves only look around and inch shorter than the Aero. Now we come to the 'Zombie strangle' and the sleeves of the Eastman look around 2ins shorter than the Aero. So if I'm auditioning for a part in the Walking Dead, it's Aero all the...
As an ex Matchless owner(1961 G12) this is a bit of an insult. Even the modern day bike project looks sh.. I wouldn't be seen dead in the clothing.
I shall say no more(Well....I may have to defend my favourite bike)
No, they are just jackets, they may be lovely jackets but neither male nor female in English. Now the French! Thats another matter. And why do restaurant staff refer to women as 'Guys' AAAAGH! DONT GET ME STARTED:mad:
Sorry Julie, this is 'your thread'.
In a few years, maybe even a couple of hundred, we may be looking at these things probably in wonder. Were Genghis Kahn's armour or Vlad the Impalers uniform to be discovered and come to auction folks will be clamouring for them.
Why do we try to insist that we wipe the face of the earth of...
