Examples of heavily used Aero leather?

35 year old Aero A2, Battersea Contract. What kind of leather? Ask ken, he made it. ;)

    Ebay...price gouging fees.

If there was no eBay what would we do? It has helped me complete collections of various items and got me parts for projects very quickly. All just by sitting at home in front of a computer screen. Without eBay I would have to meet people, ask questions, look in papershop windows, search magazine...

    US Bomber Jackets

My old Eastman form the 1980s, bought secondhand(not pre-owned or pre-loved) had a bit of a blouson effect. I took a this fitted a little large but not too baggy back in the mid 1990s and still fits today with room to spare. I think I have gone up a few sizes since then but the jacket still fits...

Adding A little Patina To An Aero Flight Jacket

My mixture of spilt beer, midnight oil and elbow grease, plus a dash of blood sweat and tears applied over a 30 year period sure can't be beat :)

Son of Stagg London - ELC jackets Sale

On an original A2 that was what it was like. 'My Lucky 7 Seven' A2 has stitches wandering all over, also epaulette box stitching different sizes, I doubt it would get through most quality controls even on a Mall jacket.

Custom Aero, the trigger has been pulled

Hi Craig, did you hear that from the Front Quarter Horse's mouth ;) I heard a similar story about him but not that drastic. I have seen bit's of A2 framed and a few full jackets turned up in the 80s. But how on earth do you tell a bit of a military jacket from any other 70 year old(40 years...

Custom Aero, the trigger has been pulled

Things I had never heard of before the internet when buying old or new leather jackets. Chrome tanned, veg tanned, top grain, tea core(thats a new one to me), the term "help me choose a jacket" Cafe racer(jackets), Lancer(jackets). We just bought them and enjoyed them. As for vintage jackets...

Custom Aero, the trigger has been pulled

Hey, don't take my posts too seriously :) I try to inject a little humour into the world of leather jackets. They are just things to wear, ok they look cool and can cost a bomb, we also don't all necessarily agree on a particular design. I have said it before, I think there is too much...

Custom Aero, the trigger has been pulled

if you wish to be pedantic(which I can be rather harsh at sometimes ;) )A Cafe racer, as in a teenage tearaway motorcyclist from the Ton Up era, would more than likely wear the standard 'W' collared lancer style jacket with the cross over zip. The mandarin style on the so called Cafe Racer...

Custom Aero, the trigger has been pulled

Sounds nice. Bet all those little custom options cost, some nice little changes there especially the Highwayman style collar. I am sure Aero will do it nicely for you. With no zips on the pockets though, they may 'pop' open if you plan to ride. I rode my Busa in a Highwayman and lost my wallet :(

    Fake/replica A2 painted patches

Yes, still got it though it's a bit tight. Nowhere to wear it these days except maybe War and Peace now it's back at Belting Hop Farm.

    Fake/replica A2 painted patches

Bit naughty that mate. Maybe you didn't ask me the right questions eh! Though some were originals bought from reliable sources, I probably never sewed them on either. I still have a few half finished painted ones from the 80s and stacks of old bits of leather, mainly calf and goat, I may finish...

    Fake/replica A2 painted patches

Quite a common item these days with so many new jackets out there, but be aware that not all is what it may appear, especially if you wish to attach an old, maybe original painted patch to a well worn replica jacket. I had quite a few of these during the replica A2 craze during the late 1980s...

Adding A little Patina To An Aero Flight Jacket

Personally I would never think about the resale value of a jacket or any similar items you wish to enjoy . Would you enjoy it more or less with no patches or how you would like it. Would you:- Be afraid to get it wet if caught out in the rain? Worry about getting it scratched if the family dog...

Adding A little Patina To An Aero Flight Jacket

When looking at painted patches, multi piece or plain disc, nothing looks worse than a new jacket with old patches or an old jacket with new patches. This was one of my few attempts to artificially age something as I had a couple of old jackets to put these on. As has been said a new jacket...

Adding A little Patina To An Aero Flight Jacket

Whatever you do, don't do the 'dirty varnish' wash a lot of patch producers do as an ageing request. It just looks so fake.

Adding A little Patina To An Aero Flight Jacket

How about like this. Painted it, left it a week, put a bit of sellotape on parts, pressed it then pulled it off. Nhen rubbed some white spirit carefully over parts of the patches to expose the leather surface. They were originally painted with enamels and aged around 20 years ago. I only just...

    Skin choices in leather jackets

Hey Willy! Want to buy my welders jacket? Only needs a couple of squadron patches, may start a trend ;) Well that Aeromarine?(Not quite but damn near) certainly is different.
