My hat seems to be a bit of an oddball with the 60s/70s date tag but has a trolley cord and the older 5X roundel. Also, it has the appearance of an Open Road but has no such markings. I have not been able to find any other hats like it.

Thanks for the reply and information! All the feedback I’ve gotten here and on the campaign hat thread points to this likely being a 30s hat with the unsewn back of the sweatband maybe pushing it a bit earlier. Dating certainly isn’t an exact science!

Bummer, I can’t really make out the lot number. I sorta see “LOT 4X57” but confidence is low. It looks like it got double stamped perhaps because the ink was low that day ;).

I posted the hat to the campaign hat thread as well and I received information that characteristics specific to this style of hat put it as an NCO hat likely from 1920 to 1942. Based on your info it could narrow the range down to the 20s.
