    Western, anyone?

Thanks Bob. I used the original 6-cord but replaced the single loop with the bow. My first curl project and I wasn’t able to locate a curling tool. Had to resort to homemade techniques and the results weren’t as smooth as I would have liked. Good learning experience though.

    Western, anyone?

Thanks for the feedback, Steve. I think I may need to bow the brim a bit more to smooth out that curl. Not a hat I will wear but it was a good learning experience.

    Western, anyone?

Before (seller photo) and after cowboy hat. Lots of real estate to deal with and the brim was a floppy mess. Still working on smoothing out that curl. Not sure if I’ll keep that bow on the hat band or go back to the original single loop. Bill

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

A great day for the Akubra. Off the grid on the Blackfoot. Fish were crazy aggressive and attacked pretty much anything I threw out there. Sadly a blizzard hit and I had to cut the day short. Bill

OTHER THAN eBAY Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Yes, down to $18 + $12 ship. It looks very old but it appears the sweatband is missing so I don’t want to mess with it. A riding hat makes sense to me. I found another one referenced in 2015: Post in thread 'The Bowler or Derby Hat'...

OTHER THAN eBAY Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Yes, that makes sense. It could be riding hat/helmet where the cork is used as padding.

Not my hat. Not sure about cork as a liner material.

Thanks Joe. Yes, it has a single stitched under welt edge.

Nothing terribly special about this Royal Stetson except that it appears to be unworn and I believe from the 50’s. A nice pick up. Bill

    Akubra Bushman

Right, grommets seem to generate discussion now and then so I thought I’d point that out. :) I like seeing the various shapes you and others have come up with for the Bushman. I’ll be on the lookout for one in my size as it seems it would make a great fishing hat.

    Akubra Bushman

I couldn’t resist picking up this Bushman even though it’s not my size. It was shipped to me flattened and very dirty but cleaned up nicely. It is the first Bushman I’ve seen with no grommets. The first photo is from the seller. Bill Bill

    The Resistol Roundup

Looking for info on this Diamond Horseshoe Imperial Beaver. My searches on this site and elsewhere have been unproductive. I’ve found other Diamond Horseshoe hats but none are “Imperial”. There is a very faded label inside the sweatband that appears to say “A9103 Rancher”. Any ideas as to...

Here is my humble contribution to the practiced eye test. I happen to have two Stetson Temple Fedoras up on the bay — one is 6 7/8 and the other is 7 7/8. Brims are 2 5/8 on each. Which is 7 7/8, A or B? Good luck! Bill

    The Resistol Roundup

I really like this style of hat for fly fishing and am thinking of putting it into rotation. As a bonus it comes with a 6 month supply of fly tying material. It is a 10X beaver so likely won’t go beyond wear in local fly shops or other safe environments. ;-)

Dating Your Hat (A Place to Discuss the Age of Your Vintage Hat)

Thanks again, Daniel. After more research I believe the 4 panel reorder sticker can also be a 1930s indicator. Bill
