    The Bowler or Derby Hat

Lol, I mean, what do you think is going happen? As far as I know, there are no roving bands of hat snatchers...or droogs running around you might be mistaken for. Wear the hat, don't let the hat wear you. Pre war Stetson Derbies are a dime a dozen on Ebay. You should be able to find one for...

The Royal and Royal deluxe qualities were reintroduced a few years ago by Matt Deckard. I don't know for sure, but I am presuming that the felt mixes were tinkered with to his specifications, hence the re-naming. As best I can recall about my Sovereign Temple that I once owned and sold many...

Personal taste/the rare Tobacco felt (which yes, I know the New York was offered in). Heck, it's Matt Deckard's Indy hat!

    Fedoras afield

Putting some more beat on the beater. Went camping with friends this weekend up in gold country at Malakoff Diggins state park. The park is preserving the historic site of the state's largest hydraulic gold mining operation. The valley just beyond the lookout fence post in the first photo is...

The STETSON WAY, Advertising and ephemera of the Golden Era

Not to drift too far from topic, but did you see a few years ago they found one of the Bullitt Mustangs in a junkyard in Mexico?

The STETSON WAY, Advertising and ephemera of the Golden Era

Ah, that one is part of my one of my other collecting hobbies, film prop replicas. It's a hand turned wooden cane based on John Hammond's 'dinosaur bone' cane from Jurassic Park.

Well, new in relative terms sure, I don't think the license agreement made it past the 80's. But yah, originally the Temple was Stetson's licensed hat from Temple of Doom (go figure).

We also had this discussion the other day.... If it's stamped Open Road, it's an OR. No stamp? I'm in the "not an OR camp."

A modern Stetson is as good as any other modern factory hat, IMHO. If you like the Temple, get the Temple. If you can find a Stetson New York, it is an open crown hat in Stetson's excellent quality felt, which is among the best currently made. If you happen to be 7 1/4 or 7 5/8 one two Mini...

The STETSON WAY, Advertising and ephemera of the Golden Era

Pardon the glare of the plastic, I didn't want to take this ad out of the protective sleeve at work. But the very cool 1928 French ad came today. It is indeed dated 1928 at the top and is apparently a page from L'Illustration, a Parisian newspaper which ran from 1843-1944. Now I need a frame!
