Yeah, I think the CXL FQHH for a Texas climate, coming from a Californian with a similar situation, may be a bit much, since breaking in a relatively heavy leather jacket when it's shorts season for most of the year is a big ask unless this it's a passion project. Even worse when you factor in...
Oh wait I had Jerky and Kelpie mixed up, Kelpie may be the way, since Unfinished HH won't be an option since it only comes in black. And Vicenza as well.
Well, I wouldn't rule out CXLSH. It's more comfortable out the box and breaks in almost instantly. If CXLHH feels like cardboard, then CXLSH feels like rubber if that make any sense. If I were to make another jacket, I'd be willing to make it in CXLSH and I would probably choose it over all...
I live in CA, so we have similar challenges in that it's nice here for the majority of the year, and I'm a hoody kinda guy.
So I've went down the rabbit hole, learned alot, here's my humble perspective:
There is no magic leather that is as comfortable as lamb and looks good as a chrome/veg...
Goat is probably the most practical, HH will be the most beautiful, CXL steer will skew more towards HH in that range. As Canuck mentioned, Pinnacle may be the way to go given the recent reviews of the leather.
HH texture is just beautfil, I forget until I wear my HH jacket and get reminded...
Uuuggghhh, it's been unseasonably cold here lately and I decided to bite the bullet and wear my CXL HH jacket to dinner, there is just no replacement for HH graining, and the scent of Horween. I would easily trade teacore for something that wears much more comfortably, but for the most part no...
I figured it was a matter of time before prices start going. When I had mine made, just sending him my liner was like $75 bucks, so I could only imagine what sending a full leather jacket must run him.
Earlier in this thread many pages ago we sorta broke down the cost, on a conservative end...
I have some experience with three of the hides. I have a skived version of the cxl, I think down to 2oz iirc. Even at that it is a chore. It is now wearable but still stiff and restricting. Keep in mind though I hate boots and I wear hoodies almost every time and unless stuff is frozen I rarely...
Another Don that went down the rabbit hole after seeing the Schott Raven. I kinda wish I bought that Raven, something about it just hit right for me, but also didn't and wound up going custom.
Don't you take away the last word your promised me, it's the only thing that's sustaining my life ;)
In all seriousness, I understand and respect your perspective. Where we deviate, I feel, is the impact of what you say and how it fits within the context of this discussion, putting intentions...
OP, as Mr Proper mentioned, you could try to sell it, maybe a Himel fan will buy it since they got a good example or two and having a flawed one may add character to the collection, lol.
Yeah, as I said before, end of the day you still got a jacket that looks good on you, and before knowing all...
