OP, this is an unfortunate situation.
The practical matter is that yes you did indeed wait too long to come forward to address this issue, but reasonably you were unsuspecting of an issue.
Is it then the burden of the consumer to know jackets at the level of many on these forums to evaluate a...
Thank you for your last post procalamation, you and Himel now have that in common. If the shoe fits...
I agree, but will add that there is another camp that believes OP did something wrong on some level, hence some level of victim blaming/shaming. Hey, I get it, if you post something on the...
These sort of threads escalate because of apologists who claim they're trying to be fair and balance while offering a perspective that is not pertinent or asked for with what we're talking about, such as telling the OP that he should've handled things better. OP did nothing to deserve that...
My post is to remind those who need it of the stitching on OP's $2650 jacket, and comparing it to the examples of others that Mark posted, to illustrate the degree of imperfection because as you pointed out, Mark's examples were imperfect, frankly acceptably so, but the OP's jacket is even more...
Less we forget what we're talking about here, a $2650 jacket.
If you believe the OP's jacket is jacked, what is there to defend especially given Himel's attitude towards it all?
$2650 jacket. Unacceptable. I don't see what there is to debate here, Himel needs to make it right, I don't see why we need to bow at the temple of Himel so that OP gets resolution. Or why we should be encouraging Himel's behavior. This is not the first time.
If I were a maker, I'd be...
I generally agree, but specifically regarding Himel they demonstrated in the past that you will not get a prompt remake/refund, with heaven forbid an apology with any amount of sincerity without public discourse or significant personal patience/hassle.
Moreover, if I were the OP I'd want a...
+1, they usually have something being cooked up, last time they had a skived tumbled CXL which I was really considering, heck I wound up choosing the Horween steer because they just happened to have some and I was in love immediately, lol.
JL has been doing alot of horween steer lately which may fit the bill for you. It definitely develops the creases quickly and moves well. If cxl hh is like cardboard, than the steer is like rubber. But as far as leather character, hard to beat cxl horsehide.
Yeah definitely go there and try stuff on, they make it a point to have all of their usual styles in all the sizes in stock to try, in enough leathers to get a good idea. They're really good and helping you hone in too as it can be a bit overwhelming.
You should definitely drop in, you'll figure out pretty quick what their bread and butter designs are and if not they'll show you. Try stuff on, you never know what may end up resonating with you.
Reading through this thread, I suppose the answer depends on how you value authenticity vs. elevated quality. Fit and therefore pattern/design and style is subjective as everyone's body and taste is different, the only constants for reference then becomes material and workmanship quality. I...
Funny this thread popped up. I was cruising around the city today and walked into a store that happened to stock them. Coming across shinki leather or Japanese leather is rare treat indeed so I had to indulge.
Fine creek Alonso, my goodness what a jacjet. Lack of character? Kidding me, this...
Looks good, that's the problem with stiffer leather is that they don't drape, so you either have to go with a restrictive tailored fit, or have it look a little ballooned as they do in your sleeves. Imo it looks great and should look better as it softens up and breaks in.
I can resonate with your designs as I've done exactly what you're doing twice, only in black. My first had hidden snaps because I was trying to go as minimal as possible, right down to black zippers and no pockets. I was going for more minimalist biker than aviator.
My inspiration was the...
Deep sigh.
If I could be selfish for a sec, I was planning to request my next eventual jacket be made by him since he still took on projects from time to time, it would've been an honor to have a jacket made by his hands, just a stock pattern with his signature on it would've been everything...
Yeah, Tyson could whoop me with just his stare, lol.
The fit on the Windward to me looks just right and functional, and the collar on the ELMC does leave alot to be desired, but my goodness does that jacket look good anyway, lol. What leather is that?
Another reminder I need to put down the cakes and pick up the weights.
Man, when I scrolled through, the ELMC jumped out at me, that leather and how it drapes on you, goodness.
Are we talking pre-prison Tyson, or face tattoo no Freddie Roach Tyson?
