Nice summer suit Frank. I think you should try that look with an unstructured 1930s tie and a slim knot, it would look splendid!
Eddie, good jacket, It looks like late 1960s-early 70s? the shoulders look quite wide in a classic way, which works with your ensemble.
Often you find very wide...
Ha, yes, there's nothing intrinsically wrong with drinking cocktails on a yacht (as long as it's not the royal yacht) I will be drinking cocktails by the beach in Cyprus soon, unfortunately any kind of jacket will be virtually out of the question.
Thanks for the responses chaps.
Btw Eddie, that...
After a long search, I finally found a summer jacket I like, on sale from Gant:
Sort of dressy but casual at the same time with the patch pockets and the cotton cloth. (Yes, the sleeves need to be shortened)
Only thing is, the white buttons make me think 'Lounging with a cocktail on the royal...
Lost horizon
(Frank Capra, featuring Ronald Colman):
Two of the main characters wear these 'safari' shirts, with apparently cavalry twill flat fronted trousers. Topped off with a sport coat.
stylish expedition wear!
Gabardine sports jacket with military pockets:
And a swing belt...
Thanks for posting those photos! nice suit in the first shot.
I haven't posted much here lately, so here is a collection of shots:
The Testament of Dr Mabuse
(Fritz Lang)
Being that it is early 1930s, there are still some slimmer trousers to be seen.
The main character in his poor...

This is great.
Nice outfits Eddie. I appreciate when someone can look casual in a three piece suit, of course the nap of the flannel helps, but there's no denying your carrying it off effortlessly.
But I have to second Two Type's comment, I feel like fainting looking at your second picture! :) Get yourself...
Reweavers charge around £60 per hole, and we are talking about 5+ holes. Being tweed, even stitching over a hole wouldn't be too visible, but there are just too many.
I sent it back.
By the way it was probably older than mid-1940s as the label did not have the '100% wool' line.
That's a very timeless looking suit. The lapel shape is quite striking and keeps the jacket on the stylish (rather than nondescript) side of classic.
Good choice of buttons, they add just a touch of character to the suit which make it work in a more casual context.
I'm glad your tailor avoided...

Rare combination of double breasted jacket and rustic tweed.
Tiny size, but the photos are great as a reference.

It is a work jacket, but it would make a great sports coat.
I received the jacket today. Very nice cut and fits well in the chest. I rather like the high button stance with the stumpy but wide lapels and strong but not wide shoulders. Something you don't see anymore, and rather unjustly so.
Unfortunately it is rather too knackered to look presentable...
