    Blasphemy, perhaps, but another option would be a short waxed canvas jacket. I know Barbour has more cultural meaning/associations in England than the rest of the world, but they make a number of lined, cropped jackets made for horse riding that would be good.

    I think I got incredibly lucky with these. Everyone else I’ve seen posting about them seems to end up selling them after a few months due to fit issues. I wore them on a recent work trip and hiked all over town in them for a few days.
