Squires has a branch here in Chappaqua too. Another nice place in Katonah is Charles Department store, which has a good selection of Filson and Barbour usually. Chappaqua also has Family Britches, which is a good quality mens store, though they don't have a lot of workwear etc.
Dropping my daughter at the bus stop this morning. Legendary (Schott) Black Horse in FQHH with a quilted lining. Love the clean two-pocket front and hidden lapel snaps. Wesco 1939 Boss engineer boots. Boxer-pitbull-something-mix.
Tony, that looks alright on you...
Really glad this worked out. I got JMax’s Schott/Legendary Black Horse today and it’s a keeper for me - love the clean 2-pocket front - and the shorter front really works on my Triumph because of the low bars.
OK, I went on a buying spree and I need to clear out some jackets. I'm 5'11, 190ish; these fit well, with the brown marginally small with the liner in. Always open to offers and trades. And thanks to my 11 year-old for shooting pictures!
1) Black Vanson AR2, size 42 - fits like a 41...
Cool! Want to tease us with some specs?
I'm planning my next pair now. Thinking 9165 last Boss boots in charcoal roughout (vamps and counters) with smooth charcoal shafts and a smooth shifter patch on the left boot only. Morrison tops (lined too) and no instep strap. Vibram 100 sole. Just...
I think there are two MP lasts - MP1339 which is narrow and MP95 which is wide. Almost all the MP boots are built on MP1339 but the charcoal anniversary boots were MP95 I think. Chris Warren at Wesco could point you in the right direction.
You think? I think they walk quite nice and that the green sole is maybe a little softer than a Vibram 705. I guess I end up walking a bit more than a mile in them each day on the commute (little more today as I had dinner with my brother in the Village) and they seem fine to me. In all...
Love this place - sometimes things just work out too perfectly. I was really bummed about missing out on this the first time. And ton312 emailed me a few weeks ago with a shot in the dark on gtrplyr’s old Vanson Model C. But I was hesitant to sell... and now the circle of life is complete...
I like a high toebox, so I decided to go with the 9109 last. These are the NOS Wesco Anniversary 1939 Boss boots in tea-core Horween horsehide. A couple of dog walks and a commute so far.
Call me a stick in the mud, but I think if you're going somewhere that requires evening wear, you should wear evening wear. To me, wearing a morning coat in the evening is like wearing a dinner suit during the day. Sure, you can do it, but my assumption would be you don't know better.
I like this a lot. Are the shoulders really 21”? I would expect closer to 18.5-19” on a 44 jacket.
Maybe a better question - what height/weight are you?
Respectfully, I think it’s likely to be much more historically accurate to get a vintage Woolrich or Filson hunting jacket from ebay.
It seems unlikely that CCC members wore Ralph Lauren. And red/black buffalo plaid was super common on hunting jackets.
