I measured my vintage 1950s Stetson 6 7/8 yesterday and I can't recall the exact opening dimensions anymore but I do know when I added it up and divided it by 2 it came exactly to 6 7/8 which is a 55cm and definitely not more
the seller did respond: There is some stiffness. I’m generally unafraid to recrease hats, but this one would definitely be a challenge for me to work into another shape from the current cattleman. It seems to really want to keep that crease.
oh wow, that is in fact my size :D however, I already have a Stetson 7x silverbelly 1950s I got off of Alan. I should refrain. I am trying to just get 1 of each and I'm already at 5 hats -_-
It's a 1960s I think? based on the liner and tag?
Anyone know if there was a quality or color difference...
Really? I remember looking and seeing we did have trade agreement with Europe but it was only a few countries and Denmark, where hornskov is located, was not one of them
Hornskov included free shipping but I am worried about the duties and taxes (Canada) He says he never heard anything about this but I kind of doubt that a Canadian consumer will take the time to write to the hatter and let them know, also unless it was discussed it would be a strange thing to...
Do hatmakers use a different felt in Europe (probably) that is "better"?
I ask because I got swatches from Gannon and swatches from Hornskov and Hornskov's felt seems to be higher quality, like the raw material. It's so so soft and velvety and perfectly pounced, no "hairiness" or unevenness. It...
Hi, an old thread but I was hoping to get some insight in Resistol hats. Been learning about Stetsons, know nothing of this brand.

Was looking for a nice vintage hat in a cool toned silverbelly, 3" flat brim, and this seems to fit the bill. So I'm wondering...
I actually did stumble upon that useful page during my search but I don't see the same liner there, I see something similar but the color isn't the same
This was early 1970s "last drop" liner - coloring is different, looks like there is green below whereas the image I posted was all orange...
Hi there
Looking for some hats in my size 6 7/8.
100% beaver
size: 6 7/8 hats
What I'm looking for
curved brim variations of white (2.5-2 3/4" brim)
flat brim 3" black or other colors, raw edge but I'm open
Thanks!
I present to you, the most useless ebay seller.
Look at their response. I snidely responded, if you want to make a sale, you may want to answer basic questions about the item, especially if it isn't included in the description.
Anyone know what era this hat is from?
It's a 4X
Vintage Western Rockabilly Steer Country #B1
I couldn't find this particular liner on any online resources during my search
Wearing one of my favorite combos, moto leather jacket with my Stetson. I also love wearing this particular gray hat with my light wash denim jacket. @AbbaDatDeHat
that's so odd, I would think that it would be the opposite since the crown is the one being stretched and not the brim. Perhaps the crown just feels more rigid because it is being bent into shapes which increases the rigidity in some ways as a whole
That's so interesting. The importance and fanciness of those stores are lost these days, I never saw Sears as anything premium or spectacular and now they're gone. They actually carry some interesting history. I think Sears had its hay day with the phone catalogs which was revolutionary at the...
Sears sold hats? Thank you for sharing.
Yes those shots are horrendous I actually don't even think the color was properly identified, didn't look white/gray looked sand/beige. How are you finding these hats I didn't see any of these in my search.
I typed a combination of: vintage 6 7/8 hat...
Oh thank you for that! Do you know what era is that from and if it's easily reshape-able? I'm not that familiar with the Resistol history
It says white gray but it looks more beige/sand (I've bought a hat before that said gray and it was completely a sand/beige). What is up with these wrongly...
Does anyone here have a western felt weight? I'm curious to see your take on it. I am getting a 3 inch flat brim so western weight is best to keep the shape but I think most hats here style and felt weight is dress.
oh very cool there is a thread for this. Now I just need to find a good vintage (from my limited time here anything vintage Stetson, Dobbs, Marathon, Champs, Barclay and Lee) will be winning.
Looking for a nice light grey or grey toned silverbelly and a black 3" brim. If anyone sees one on...
