Would it be easy to just iron myself flat? Thinking of browsing ebay to find some vintage Westerns with the brim length I want and then reshaping it to a flat brim (although I'm not sure if that would work well because the thinner dress hats are thinner and it may not be a nice strong flat brim...
For me it's just mainly the finish of the hat I want something nice and soft, doesn't have to be to the degree of my Vintage Stetsons which seem so to be impossible anyway to achieve nowadays due to felt quality but something that's not hairy either.
Out of curiosity, were flat brim (3") not part of the trend "back in the day"? Can't say I've ever seen any up to now that were flat brim raw edge westerns. Or can a snap brim be ironed down to become a straight brim (but then I assume you can never go back)
I never doubted his skills and I understand he just wants to manage my expectations and that's why I wanted to go with him ultimately, but I was starting to wonder if I should be worried or it was just "we are our own worst critic/managing expectations". It's also very subjective because what I...
I figure it might have something to do with that. Would you or anyone else be able to take a high quality zoom in photo of the had so I can see what it looks like finely pounced?
I'm sure I'll be more than satisfied with his hat but it's been several times he's been doubting and it's starting...
Hi all, I've been communicating with Michael for my new hat and he had sent me some samples. I wasn't sure if they were pounced or not or if they were dress weight or western weight so I asked some questions. I don't know if it's just how he writes being on the safe side, but any time I ask a...
Actually that's perfect I wrote them but they never answer my emails. I'm supposed to be headed there at the end of the summer and I went through their site and INstagram and didn't see anything about this so I wasn't sure
I want to get a fashion western. I'm going to go with Gannon to make the hat but he does a lot more dress hat with ribbons and doesn't have any leather, bandanas or "hat belts" on hand. Do any of you have any online resources of accessories for hats I could easily buy and throw on?
I'm getting a western weight 3" flat brim fedora, raw edge so expect it to be stiff to hold up which I'm fine with. It goes with what I wanted actually. These are more hipster fashion hats then they will be dress hats. I wear my hats a bit different than you gents.
I haven't gotten to the point of being a super super discerned critic when it comes to my hats, I got very lucky with my 2 Stetsons and got them from 2 well respected Loungers here early on. I don't expect it to be a 1:1 just a quality well made hat that's nice and soft and I think Gannon more...
I think it's nice to know the origins of things and learn the history of the terminology, even when the terms started getting confusing and why. I think it adds to the richness of the hat story and culture
I'm getting a custom made by Gannon and I think I got most of the details down except when it comes to the finish of the beaver felt, what are my options? (the pouncing I think it's called).
I have 2 Vintage 1950s Stetson, one 7x one 3x I like them both and how they feel and would want my hat...
I was hoping the white liner was stamped in gold foil
That brown really looks purple under some lights, it's a nice brown though I think that would look beautiful in a black hat. Which is what I'm working on now (design wise). Just officialize-d my silvermist order with Michael, very excited.
I'm going to ask Michael to show me some pics of the liners he he has, he said he had white, black, brown. I saw some photos of Gannon hats with what looked to be very much purple but he said that it's the brown that looks purple in some lights. I really did like that if it does turn out to be...
Has anyone ordered a Gannon and shipped to Canada? I'm wondering if there are duties and taxes and how it works with NAFTA
I scoured the web and was unable to find a straight answer. Is it sufficient to have on the shipping box (USA TO CAN) made in the USA I guess on the customs form? And I...
Wow thank you for such a detailed response. I should have expected that a simple question would have such a complex answer on here, much appreciated. More information than I thought I needed! I was asking about the softness when you touch and eveness, I just have had bad experience with the...
