Is this a good price for a Resistol on the Bay?

The Double X line was listed by Resistol as a blend of "beaver and imported fur", whatever that is. I personally don't think you would be happy with either the hand or overall softness of the hat.

It’s not intended to be dress hat. It’s a western non-dress hat. It’s very typical of its type across brands.

Also, please read through this thread for more info on Resistols. Vintage Resistols are wonderful hats, and their top of the line hats - dress and western - are every bit as good as your Stetsons.

The Double X would fall into the catagory of a 15 MPH hat...it looks good going by at 15 MPH on someone else.

Like most things, the quality of the Resistol in question depends on your expectations and use. I think the X Double X is a handsome hat for what it is. It’s not competing with the 7XCB or a nice vintage 3X. This particular Resistol doesn’t make any pretenses at being a fine dress hat (western or city). This is a sturdy everyman’s hat. This is more like what working class people who wear hats while working outdoors would wear. If you’re out to impress others or to get dressed up for going out this isn’t a hat I’d consider.
