I thought a Whippet was only around $175 USD, which is around £125. The major reason I don't want to get a hat from the US is that I got badly burned by that last time having to pay import duty and way too much for shipping.
So I've kind of gotten the hat bug now, and for my next purchase I'm looking at something a bit more conservative, so I thought the Akubra Stylemaster might be a good one to try out. How do people rate it?
The other question is, should I branch out and buy other brands, like maybe a Stetson...
Yeah, interestingly enough, because my Fed 4 is in moonstone, even though I put a pretty much bang on Raiders bash in it, including the turn, people tell me it makes me look like a Mafia boss.
I just think the grey colour looks really smart, and goes extremely well with a good shirt and tie...
Yeah, I hear what you're saying, I'm just not sure how one is supposed to wear a fedora. I find it most comfortable with the brim a little above the ears and the crown almost touching my head, but not quite. I'm just wondering if it should be that deep, or should it sit with a bit more space...
Ok, but the thing is I put a dent in that's 4.5 inches at the front and 4 inches at the back. I didn't make it especially deep, but it seems to have sunk in on its own. So how would I make it shallower without raising the height of the crown at the front and rear?
I have a question though. Why is it that Harrison Ford can have his hat so that it's almost touching his ear, but the centre dent in my hat touches the top of my head way before it gets that deep? I have to wear it quite high up on my head to avoid that.
What I'm confused about is that I can't wear my hat as low as he's got it. He has the brim almost touching his ear, but my hat won't go that far down on my head because my head touches the inside of the hat.
Also, if I want to make the rear flange on my hat look like a mess too, how do I do that?
Yes, but you see in the second photo in Cairo the rear brim is drooping down quite heavily compared to the one in the Nepal above it. How do you get that really heavy dip in the rear brim in the Cairo hat?
So, I tried to put a proper raiders bash into my new Fed 4, but the brim doesn't droop in the rear like Indy's does. I was just wondering how you can get that really nice sweep and droop that he gets in his hat? I mean at both the front and the rear.
Ok, so I put a bash in my new hat, and it looks great when I'm not wearing the hat. But here's the weird thing, if I put the pinch above my nose, where it's supposed to be, the hat looks like pointing at an angle, relative to my face, and if I turn the hat so that the pinch is slightly off from...
I would say when i
Kind of. The ribbon sits in front of my ear, but I didn't deliberately turn it. I could have turned it more to distort the brim, but I didn't want the ribbon to come too far forward. So it does have a little turn in it, but it's not as extreme as the Raiders turn is. I...
So I just got my Fed 4 today, and I'm very pleased with it. Wish I'd bought one in the first place, but hey ho. Here's some pictures of my initial attempt to do an Indiana Jones Raiders style bash. Let me know what you guys think.
I should also add that it appears to come about 1 size large...
I do not have to talk, or say "hello", to every person I meet on the street, and certainly not children. I should not have to fear being harassed, or having my property stolen, simply because I was minding my own business and didn't want to talk to anyone.
I think what drew their attention was...
