Ok, so I got my distilled water. So before I do this, to make sure I don't screw it up completely. I just pour the water onto the hat until it's completely wet, then reshape it the way I want it/make it open crown?
Basically, I bought an open crown Akubra fur felt hat, and I wanted to move the pinch I put in it slightly, so it's a little more centred, but I can't get rid of the original creases that I put in it.
What I mean by that is that when I try to put new creases in it, it still conforms to the old...
So I'm trying to remove the bash from one of my hats to make it open crown again so I can rebash it. However, steaming it isn't working, and I'm not sure what else to do.
Can anyone help me?
Yes it is. I would say the brim is very similar to the Raiders brim, at least in my opinion. On the website the pictures show the rear brim really drooping down quite a bit, but on my hat at least it's actually flat and the front brim droops down the way. When you wear it you can really see...
So the front pinch is about 4.5" tall, the rear pinch is around 4". Unbashed it's about 5.5". The two side dents are around 4" wide. One dent is slightly bigger than the other, but that's just because I did it by hand, although obviously I got them as close as I could.
I'm not sure about the...
Thank you. Interestingly I get a lot of comments about it, because where I live people don't wear hats. This guy at work said it doesn't look like Indiana Jones' hat because it's not distressed enough.
So here are some pictures of my new DM Akubra Adventurer with a Raiders style bash in it. Note, I didn't put the turn in it because I found that a little uncomfortable, but I've tried to get the general shape to match up. Let me know what you think.
So I've ordered my DM Akubra Adventurer. I was just wondering if anyone can show me any pictures of theirs so I can see how it looks. In particular, if anyone's put a Raiders bash in it, with turn, I'd be interested to see that too.
Thanks a lot guys.
Can someone post some pictures of their adventurer hat? I've been looking at old threads and a lot of the pictures aren't viewable anymore.
Thanks a lot.
Maybe it's just the pictures then, because the pictures on this site show a pretty strong flange.

Now I'm starting to think I should buy one.
Ok, but the thing is that a hat like a Federation 4 has a much larger flange than his hat. His hat looks nearly flat, with a very slight lip in it. So how would I get a hat like like the Federation 4 to look that way?
The second photo you posted is the nazi guy not Indy.
If you look at the pictures at the bottom of this page, that show the actual hat that Harrison Ford wore.

You can see that the rear brim is not flanged. Maybe it just got that way over time though, I...
Thanks for that, that was really helpful. The adventurer also comes with a dimensioned brim. Are you sure that the original Raiders hat had a snap brim? Deborah Nadoolman (sorry if I spelt her name wrong) said that it was the "Australian model" by Herbert Johnson.
Australian hats don't...

If you look at the hat on that page, it doesn't look like a hat where the brim was originally turned up and it was snapped down, it looks like it was designed to have that bow shape in it from the start. It...
Yeah, I've read both of those threads previously, but I really want to see some pictures of the Adventurer with a Raiders bash (including the turn).
The Federation 4 is a nice looking hat, but my only problem with it is the brim.
