Estate sale find Stetson Nelson Zephyr Weight 4X. The box is for a Nolton model in 7-1/4 so not original. It is a big 7-3/8 as my 7-1/2 sized head fits. Any thoughts on the age? I'm thinking pretty modern.

Definitely looks like their current fedora box, Bob. You can buy empty boxes at the outlet stores; $3 for the fedora box, not sure how much for the western boxes. You used to be able to get extra boxes for free with a purchase or even if they recognized you but not anymore.

You probably know already but if it has a hole punched in the sweat around the seam or size tag then it was a factory second sold thru one of the outlets.

Janyška, 58cm, Crown Open 6 inches, Brim 2 inches, no Liner, NOS condition, probably late 1930s early to mid 1940s. The felt is pliable and takes a dry crease. This is the only one without brim binding and has a different form than the "Praga" models. It's from my latest Czech find.

So I just got my Fed 4 today, and I'm very pleased with it. Wish I'd bought one in the first place, but hey ho. Here's some pictures of my initial attempt to do an Indiana Jones Raiders style bash. Let me know what you guys think.

I should also add that it appears to come about 1 size large. I measure around 58.5, so I ordered the 59, but it's actually a good size bigger, so I've had to put some adjustment pads in it. Also the felt is really nice, very smooth, and the hat looks great.

Do you think I need to adjust the bash a little to make it look more like Indy's hat, I mean the Grey Clipper hat of course.

ninman , Bob (Bob Roberts) had a FED VI Deluxe Moonstone on yesterday (could be the day before) , I think , its on "What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?" Thread . I'm 58.5 myself , aways order 59 , my last that has arrived is a Taupe Campdraft , I've worn it almost exclusively and just took the foam sizing tape out yesterday , about 3 weeks , I think . My Bushman and Campdraft were huge , now fit fine . ... actually I need to mess with the Bushman and the oval , but size wise it's perfect . Seems it takes 2-3 weeks to shrink , they know about how much and take that into account , so when you get one they're larger . Great Job ! Beautiful Hat !

Tonak "Jubilant", size 59cm, Crown Open 5 1/2 inches, Brim 2 3/8 inches, NOS condition, 1959. Made for 160 Year Anniversary but 145 years of it was JHS. :) This hat has a really great form (looks late 1930s) for later hat. The felt is fantastic and easily dry creases. This one is from my latest Czech find.
