"America: Freedom to Fascism" Moved from The Motion Picture

The producer / director appears to be searching for (in part) the law that requires the average US citizen to pay taxes. It's an old, dead, boring issue. Tax protestors start with the premise that they shouldn't have to pay taxes and then they wind up building goofy and wholly unsupported...

    Show us your suits

Salv, I was going to buy a suit from Rob but I am still losing some weight. I figure by the January "London FL" meetup I'll have reached my goal weight. I plan on attending that and I'll be in the UK for almost two weeks. Does Rob have a shop? I'd like to go and take a look at some of his...

"America: Freedom to Fascism" Moved from The Motion Picture

It's a dead issue and I find it somewhat amusing that people are still interested in this tax protester nonsense/garbage. So, pray tell, which theory does our producer believe in? Rose? Schiff? Benson? Haraka? Kahn? Kidd? Meador? Meredith? Rizzo? Schulz? Skinner?

Career changes, anyone? Stories, Advice, whatever...

I finally changed careers at age 31. I worked in IT for a number of years and never felt satisfied. Even though my IT career was financially rewarding it was basically unfulfilling. I went to a career counselor - he wrote a great book called "The Pathfinder." After much evaluation I...

    MEN'S PAJAMAS and DRESSING GOWNS

I wear pajama bottoms sometimes. I have an old nightshirt around here too but I kinda feel ridiculous wearing it. I'm trying to think of a good caption for this old 1930's pattern....

General Questions I Should Have Asked.

My grandmother (now 88) and grandfather owned a clothing store in southern Virginia that catered to mostly African-American customers. The store was open from the early to mid 1940's till long after my grandfather's death. I think my grandmother closed shop in the mid-1980's. Her customers...

    A glued in sweat??!

They had a number of "unfinished" straws that they block. I remember the top of line being around a $1000. I've seen your website and will probably order a straw hat next season and let Art block it. I don't remember if he provided the "two-tone" ribbon that I saw on your site but that hat...

    A glued in sweat??!

a new FL member? I totally forgot to mention that there was an issue as to whether I had actually paid for the work on the hat. When I went to pick it up the owner said that it had paid with a question mark. I thought I had paid for it by credit card - and I said I'll have to leave the hat...

    Good News, Bad News

Your story will sound familiar to many of the folks at the NYC trip. We went into a store that had dozens and dozens of Fedoras. Someone had punched plastic price tags through almost all of them. I managed to find one with minimal damage. It was a sad situation.

    A glued in sweat??!

I'm going to march down there tomorrow. I pulled out the sweat. Just a few minutes ago I edited and posted two pictures in my original post and as you can see the glue is all around the inside of the hat - it's a total mess. Barry

    A glued in sweat??!

You are defintely right, I should have. The store was busy and I was just too shocked and embarrased and mad all at once. He knows me well enough to walk up to me at a restaurant across from the building he operates of, say hello, and shake my hand and chat for a bit. Since I'm off work...

    A glued in sweat??!

Total was $22 and change. I haven't pulled the sweat out but there is a lot of dried glue between the felt and the leather. It's a shame - I thought this guy had a decent reputation. He has blocked a number of hats for me. I wonder if he let one of his sales assistants do it? Barry

    A glued in sweat??!

I seem to have had some bad luck with hat repair lately. I bought an old beat-up Knox hat during the Fedora Lounge weekend in NYC. A quick steaming, brushing and shaping brought that hat back to life. The sweat was dried out and I knew it wouldn't last very long. After an especially hot day...
