    Bandanas? (no politics, please)

A couple of months ago I walked into my usual store and was reprimanded for not wearing a mask: this sudden change seemed to happen overnight. So I went home and ordered a couple of masks, but when they arrived I found them very uncomfortable to wear, sort of claustrophobic. Then I saw a couple...

A Good Time for a Custom Hat?

I've just put through a request for a new custom job with Mikael at Hufvud, but, although I'm currently in pretty good financial shape, I can't help feeling a bit prodigal about it, considering the dire situation in which we all find ourselves. I was wondering if any of you other members were...

    Brando's Wild One Hat

I see that JJ's Hat Center is now offering a version of Brando's cap in their New Arrivals section. $150, but I think there might be a discount just now.

    Corduroy Vest

I just noticed yesterday that Orvis has brought back their dark olive green corduroy vest. A bit pricey ($135), but it's a nice wide wale with a beautiful flannel liner. If you're interested you shouldn't delay too long, as these disappeared quickly last year (so I ordered immediately yesterday).

    Loake's in the U.S.?

I've been scouting around for some time for Loake's Anglesey boots and can't seem to snag a pair. It's a very confusing situation: Loake's can't export to the U.S., but I was able to snag two pairs of Bedales and Burfords through JulesB USA, but the Angleseys? Doesn't seem possible. Someone on...

    Russian Sailor Shirts

I've been a big fan of striped sailor shirts since I was a kid and have quite a few in different colors and styles. Recently I discovered an Etsy shop called Telnyashencko in St. Petersburg selling military-issues for $9.99, so I gave them a try. About a week later I received the two I ordered...

    Orvis Bandera Jacket

I just noticed that Orvis.com has brought back their Bandera jacket after a ten-year hiatus. Although I'm not at all a fan of leather blazers, this one's made of goat, and there's something very attractive about the design. Right before I discovered this forum I almost ordered one, but they'd...

    Washing Unsanforized Jeans

I recently received a pair of the Palmer Three Pines unsanforized jeans from Tweedydon. They fit me perfectly, and I have no plans on washing them for some time, as it's too hot to wear them outside the house just now in Miami. I know that unsanforized denim will shrink, but is there any way to...

    Loake Bedale Boots

Im in the process of ordering a pair of the above and just noticed that they only come in a "G" width. My size is 8.5 US with a "B" width, so for these British-made boots I order 7.5. Would ordering a half-size down solve the problem? A couple of sites I looked at suggested this, but I'm worried...

Tweed Jacket and a Straw Hat?

We're in the midst of an unusually prolonged period of cool, sunny weather here in Sonny Crockett's hometown, and I'm happily sporting my tweed and corduroy jackets, often with vests. The same question hits me every morning, though: a straw hat with a tweed or corduroy? I'm not talking Panamas...

    Frye Leather Carcoat?

The other day I was scrolling through the ebay vintage leathers and came across this carcoat by Frye, apparently dating back to the 1960's or '70's. The style is very close to the Aero Stockman, and the leather appeared in the close-ups to be very heavy and grainy steerhide. It's a little over...

    That (sometimes) Vintage Smell

I recently received two jackets and a Fair Isle sweater vest that have that awful, sickly sweet smell of human decay. The sweater I soaked in Woolite and white vinegar, which seems to have taken care of it pretty well, but the two jackets I'm a bit leery of giving the same treatment. I'm...

    Worth & Worth

I was wondering if any of our members who live in the NY area, or have visited there, have any comments they'd like to make on this hattery. The reason I ask is that last night, during one of those periods when I find myself too tired to read and simply want to consider the concept of hats, I...

    Website Addictions

When I get home from work every day I'm usually exhausted and want to spend a little time eyeballing my favorite sites. I start with the Aero Leather Sales Page, click over to JJ Hats, and then come to this site. I thought it might be interesting to hear from other Loungers as to their favorites...

    Memphis Belle 1944

I just noticed that the original WWII documentary, Memphis Belle (1944), is on TCM tonight at 10:30pm. Some of you guys may want to get the A-2's out.

    Black Straw Hat?

I'm on the hunt at the moment for a black Panama, something with a minimum 2 7/8" brim and a C-shaped or teardrop crown, and maybe in the $200.00 range. So far I've exchanged emails with Mike at NW, but he only had a 2 1/2" brim in my size, which is a 7 7/8". Good guy, though, and he's keeping...

    Capas Bogart Straw Hat

I suppose I should have asked this question ahead of time, but I just ordered the Capas Bogart to take advantage of the holiday sales. I've seen this hat being offered by a few companies and like the style and the "Toast" color. Anyone have any knowledge of the product?

    Shangrila

While recently reading up on the poet W.H. Auden, I saw that he described his mind-frame as "essentially pastoralist," meaning that he was a daydreamer. I thought it might be interesting to hear from FL members about the most beautiful, magical places they've been. I'd start with the Taj Majal...
