I know this is :eek:fftopic: as it does not relate to the golden age, but I was sent this You Tube clip featuring the great American performer Divine and it reminded me when in the 1980s I worked as a theatrical sound and light engineer

I was lucky enough to be the light engineer at a Divine's gig. I have never met anyone so large before. We nearly could not get him on the stage, we had to take down the handrails of the stairs leading up to the stage because of this mans girth. But what a performance, he was utterly disgusting and I loved every minute of it.

I worked for a number of acts during the 1980s, some where horrible to work with, but Divine was great. Sadly this gig was about 9 months before his death, I still remember the headline in the music press

---"the nicest man in pop is dead!----" NME 1988

Happy days, anyway here is the You Tube clip

Because of YouTube I am able to see three episodes of Midsomer Murder that I hadn't seen before. Dang Biography channel took it off their schedule after putting it on ridiculous viewing times (phasing it out) ~ Now I can't find it anywhere in the US. And in the UK it's heading into it's 10th season.

Anyhow...yahoo for youtube!

Same here. There have been two episodes I missed and now can't find them. My son showed me where to look on YouTube. I didn't know such a thing existed and now I'm so flippin' addicted. :D

Many of the links here are broken, but I've just discovered that YouTube is a goldmine of silent films so went looking for this thread to say something. Many of them are restored and corrected for speed and the clarity is quite something. A reminder that by 1929, the motion picture industry was rather matured. The movies were beautifully photographed with great camera angles, etc. The talkies set them back two decades!

From 1913, Lillian Gish and Richard Barthelmess (her favorite actor to work with), The Mothering Heart

Here's the very beginning of this 1976 TV production of Noel Coward's Private Lives. I do like the art deco opening credits sequence.

One of my all time favorite films is not on DVD. But it's on YouTube!

The Uninvited, 1944- part one

And, while I own the entire Goodnight Sweetheart series on DVD, it's in UK format. Won't play on the DVD player here (my own is reprogrammed to play all formats, but I don't have a tele here). So I've been watching the series on YT again. And again... and... again.

Here's a clips collection.
