There is no definitive research that concludes the amount of mercury in amalgam fillings is harmful to most people. In fact, just the opposite. Studies have shown over and over again that there is no elevated health risk from amalgam fillings, and in fact, trying to remove them is likely more harmful than keeping them. New data may change that in the future, but to suggest that currently no intelligent doctor or patient would or should choose amalgam is simply fear mongering at the highest level.

Some years ago, in Germany was argumented like that. But, that was just some years ago. Then, more and more voices on medicine were louder, which Amalgam associates additional with these masses of lighter or heavier allergical problem on middle-aged and older people. The reason is, that obviously many people, which had letting removed their Amalgam in the 90's or 2000's, got rid of their earlier allergical problems, headaches or even migraine and went to a normal health-condition, like beeing younger people, for new.
So, now, we mainly calling Amalgam "pure madness" or even "medical crime", here. No one, which is fit on education and clear on mind, would choose this outdated [swear redacted by bartender] , here.

Over decades, too much botching was done, with new Amalgam-fillings. The dentists here are declaring it, unofficial, keeping quite, about the option Amalgam-filling. They just know, that they can't take the patients for idiots. Not anymore!

Again, that's just fear mongering. Feel free to choose to not have amalgam fillings, but your decision is based on emotion, not science or medicine, and I object to your describing anyone who doesn't buy the fear as "idiots".

The way I look at it is, do I really want to live longer eating cardboard, or a little shorter with some tasty stuff once in a while? ;)

If you know how to cook, healthier foods can be just as tasty as the so called 'unhealthy' grub but there's no need to be obsessive about eating healthily , simply eating less of everything is already a step in the right direction. The aim of a healthy lifestyle though, is not so much to live longer but to simply feel better & to stack the odds in your favor for having less health problems throughout your life.. :)
After all, we are what we eat. :D

If it weren't for midlife crises Harley-Davidson would just be a name from the past. :p:D
Back in the 60s, when I learned to ride, if you meant a Harley rider of the age I am now, you new he was a grizzled hard core rider, with a lot of miles under their belt! Now days, the big Harley is probably his first bike! Talking to riders of other brands, that is the number 1 reason they hate Harley's. It has become synonymous with Poser! This is from a guy that owns five. ;)

To me, it's still good and it tastes neutral (with water).
To be honest, since the USA Today link mentioned oatmeal I'll admit I do enjoy that and eat it as often as I can; preferably with raisins. But the whole grain breads that I've eaten here in the U.S. all had the same problem--they had the flavor and texture of sawdust, and were rather unappealing.

Taste like sawdust?? Are there rolled-oates, soft-oates or instant-oat-flakes available?

PS:
With raisins, it's ok. I still often eat the mix from supermarket, too. 1.000g on 1,39 Euro. ;) Rolled-oates, wholegrain-wheat-flakes, wholegrain-rye-flakes, raisins, sunflower-seed, Kokos-rasps, sultains, hazelnut-kernels, flax-seeds, cornflakes, roasted peanut-kernels, almond-kernels. :D

Along the lines of "Live fast, die young and leave a beautiful corpse," which is fine if the person does die young - but many times they don't and the wreckage that is their life from the living fast can be ugly. Even worse, they don't do all this in a vacuum and many people - friends, spouses, children - become collateral damage.

But if you do it all to yourself in a vacuum and that's your thing - you own your life, so no judgement from me.
George Best was a particular disaster on that front. I gather he was one of the more gfted soccer players who ever trod a pitch but he descended into being a wife beater and an alcoholic who drank himself to death through his own liver.... And two transplant livers. Given the number of people who die for want of a transplant organ, it's an obscenity he did so. It's also a huge shame on Belfast City Airport that it renamed itself after him. I try when I can not to fly through there as a result.

Presumably airports have bureaucratic hoops to jump through, but yes they can change their name. Speke Airport in Liverpool, for instance, was renamed John Lennon Airport.
At least John Lennon was from Liverpool. Robin Hood Airport, formerly Finningley Airport, is near Doncaster Yorkshire. Quite a distance from Nottingham.
