Why!!!! Hipsters!!! Why!!!!!

The Black Keys have had a following for many years. Mark Lanegan was a Screaming Tree eons ago for many many years. Interesting how easily the label of "hipster" can be slapped upon a band.

Black Keys is and has always been an awesome band, but they are usually heralded as the hipster band. Screaming Trees were a prime band, and Mark has done some really great solo stuff and some good stuff with Queens Of The Stone Age. The band he had for a while with whathisface from Afghan Whigs was really good too. Mark has one of my absolute favourite voices and usually gets respect from most every musician I've met. But the people I've met at his and Isobel's concerts are the kind of people I'd term "hipster".

But then, I don't use "hipster music" as a pejorative, or indeed asign any sort of value to the expression. I use it to describe music that geeks in skinny jeans listen to. And geeks in skinny jeans are some of the most music savvy people in the world, IMO.

Having the audience full of hipsters doesn't make the band itself "hipster".

The suit doesn't make the man same than skinny jeans doesn't make the music expert Leaving aside the fertility problems male owners will develop after abusing their looks.

Went to a birthday party in a great LA pub last night. Awesome music, staff and beers. After 10PM, it flooded with hipsters. Man, what a letdown - thankfully, I was well buzzed.

Wandered in my local Chili's this evening for a snack and noticed they had PBR on draft - never seen that before.

Told the bartender I was going to embrace my inner Hipster and give it a try.
