What's something modern you won't miss when it becomes obsolete?

Bleurgh. In order to swallow coffee, I need so much sugar in it it hurts. Nasty stuff. I drink tea (with no sugar). Tend to avoid the chain places - Starbucks are on the naughty list until they pay their damn tax, but in any case I'd always rather support an independent than pay through the nose for what most of the chains charge for a tea. It's an even bigger racket than what pubs charge for a coke from the tap.

Here it's just the opposite. All the youngsters drink coffee, and they're all barbarians.

The youngsters in my house are the main reason I drink cofee (and beer). I'll be lucky if I don't end up on more serious medication before they're grown.
Always drink it black though. Milk and sugar are for cereal.

And speaking of beer, something I'd like to see go away is beer that doen't taste like beer. They used to make wine coolers for people who didn't like the taste of beer, now its fruity flavored beers.
Is an artisinal summer ale with a hint of strawberry somehow more macho than a Bartles & James, or a pumpkin spiced fall lager tougher than a Zima?

I never encountered a beer that didn't have that nasty, beery taste, no matter what they claim. I don't think fruit beers are especially new, though. Haven't the Belgians been at that forever?

Indeed they have Edward, but here in the States there has been an explosion of late of "craft beers" and the hipsters are all atwitter like it's the latest thing.

Coffee is good for the mood, you have a point Sheeplady.
Personally I don't drink more than 3 cups a day, down from 14 years ago.
Why do people drink coffee?
Sometimes it's to be social, to start a day or end an evening.
Then it could be for physical reasons, because they NEED the extra boost to do what normal people do daily.
As for those people that suck down 14 cups a day like I used to, and can't sit still to save their soul...who knows why?
For me, I built up a tolerance to it, and even with 14 cups I'd still get in the bed around 10:30 and sleep all night.

You missed the most important and the reason I drink coffee....I like the taste.

Anyone who drinks beer to be macho has a problem, whether it has raspberries added or not.
Kriek at least was around in the 17th Century (and quite possibly before) so hardly a modern invention.

Just having a little fun - not trying to step on anyone's toes. Folks been railing on coffee awhile here, wich I drink the h#!! out of, but I know its all in good spirit, and some of it is pretty funny.

I didn't miss it.
I like the taste of mine too, although my favorite blend is regular but with a smoky flavor.
Café Noir from Fresh Market.
It doesn't have a smoky taste like Folgers that's been in the pot all day, it's a pleasant taste to me.
Hence the "noir" part of the name, as an attempt to recreate a café with dark coffee and cigarettes going.
This from a guy that, as a kid, ate the coffee flavored candy and ice cream. :D

As for beer, I just started back drinking that, as a substitute for wine.
The only beer I considered going back to, was a former love of mine from the 90's (before I gave it up)...Guinness Extra Stout.
No fruity flavors, no seasonal spices, just the same beer they've been making for over 200(?) years.
If the store is out, I"d consider Killians Irish Red, but honestly I'd just go to another store. :D

You know, it's funny...I love coffee, as in a hot cup of black coffee, but I can't stand coffee-flavored anything...not ice cream, not candy, not liquor, not cheesecake... I don't know why.

Quite old chap. "As any fool know", those who aspire to be heroes must drink brandy. :)

The phrase "going viral."

People who email you at home on work-related matters at 7 in the morning and get peevish if you don't reply by 730.

"Unboxing" videos.

The word "amazing" as a substitute for "high quality" or "exceptional."

People who quote "studies" without determining who funded them.

Oil speculation.

Piercingly-bright halogen headlights in the daytime.

Five-day weather forecasts.

Documentary films that depend on dramatic re-enactments of actual events.

People who jump a line by pretending to be "disabled."

The word "reboot."

Round here coffee is just a gateway drug....it seems to have led all the young folks on to the vile-smelling Red Bull for their agitation kicks....

I take it that you like a little coffee with your cream and sugar? ;)
