Lizzie, that Walter Kerr book is one of my all-time faves. Absolutely the best single book on the subject, by far!

Coffeetable books - "Celluloid Skyline", "American Splendor" (the anthology that came out at the time of the film), "Mythology: The Superhero Paintings of Alex Ross", "The Historical Atlas of New York"

Three remote controls (receiver, TV, DVD/VCR combo)

Coasters, in a vain attempt to keep the table unstained (pretty silly, since we all put our feet up on it and it's got scuffs and dents aplenty)

Clipboard with lined pad and pen, for making lists and jotting down stuff

Stack of miscellaneous papers: several upstate NY college brochures (my son is applying), chronolgoical list of Woody Allen films indicating my own rankings and which ones I've shown to my kids, assorted printouts (Weird Al song lyrics) and catalogs (LL Bean, US Wings, etc.)

One end has a vintage 1940s-1950s repousse lidded thing, I think it is a cheese dish, or something like that. In the middle I have a wooden tray that my mom used to serve me breakfast on when I was a child--I recently painted it white--and in it I have antique doorknobs, a big glass flower frog, a marble egg on a stand, a marble egg without a stand, a pewter salt shaker, a silver salt shaker, a stack of odd saucers, a stack of silver & glass coasters, and a polar bear momma with her babies, laying on a piece of ice. The other end of the table has an antique wash basin--it was cracked, so I got it for $1.00 at a thrift store. It is still filled with Chirstmas balls, because I hate to put them away. I usually keep a stack of stacking baskets in it.

Right now, it's pretty bare, thanks to a new dog that likes to eat things that aren't dog food.lol

I have a dish with polished stones and candles, and a small heater. Normally, I would have:

Copy of the current CS.
University of Florida football book
Coca-Cola book
Table lighter. Even though I don't smoke in the house, it still looks cool.
TV Guide

All of this has to wait until chewie dog gets over putting everything in her mouth.
