Summer squash fresh from the yard battered in cornmeal and pan fried with sliced sweet onions, leftover blackeye peas, jalapeño cornbread with cheese on top, and ice cold beer.

Hubby got the Elvis memorial platter, papi-in-law got the special (Hatch chicken enchiladas), and Lily.... well, she got kid's crunchy tacos, but she ate chips and jalapeño Ranch dip.

Ya’ll sound like you had a great time at Chuy’s.

Babydoll, I’ve noticed that the menu has 1 -2 -or more images of the hot peppers indicating how mild or
hot you prefer the dishes.

Do you eat that hot stuff ? I tried once & burnt my lips. The waiter said there’s way to bite them with
just the teeth & not with the lips.

But...never again for me ! :eeek:

No, the tomatillo sauce is mild. It is creamy, with tomatillo and cilantro. They hand pull the chicken breasts so you get big chunks of meat. Flavorful, not spicy.

The dip isn't spicy, either. Addictively good. We had two dishes of it - rather, Lily had a dish, and the 3 adults shared a dish.

The fellas also partook of happy hour margaritas (rocks). They vanished quicker than the dip!

See? Happy, relaxed Hubby! Ah, vacation!

Veggie cheeseburger on buttered bun and salad with homemade blue cheese dressing, iced tea. Dessert is a possibility, maybe peanut butter cookies.

BBQ'ed pork shoulder, compliments of a guy Grandma goes to church with, and scalloped potatoes and baked beans, compliments of Grandma, at her house for dinner.

Aah, I really miss Grandma's cooking. Most everything she made was from scratch and she had a lot of talent as well.
:D
Yes, I really miss my Grandma's cooking too. These days, my mom is Grandma - not that she's any slouch in the kitchen either - and she keeps my kids sometimes on Fridays, so if I can time picking them up for around dinner...........

Tried something new tonight. Cooked the rice in tomato juice. It was awful. Might be good in the right kind of recipe but I had it with chili and broccoli.
