What's for Dinner?

Tried something new tonight. Cooked the rice in tomato juice. It was awful. Might be good in the right kind of recipe but I had it with chili and broccoli.
Here's a tip......sautee some onions and garlic in olive oil or butter, then throw in the uncooked rice and toss it in the oil and let it brown just a little, THEN cook it in the tomato juice. Don't forget the salt & pepper.

-edit-
I also often throw in some frozen mixed vegetables or peas and carrots whith the rice, and I generally prefer this...

to plain old s&p.

How have I missed this thread up to now????!!!! . . .
Nothing I like better than foodies (excepting maybe fedoras) . . .

I am cooking up a big batch of Appalachian Cockaleekie Soup . . . two whole chickens, four pounds of pork sausage, leeks, onions, garlic, sage, barley and kale . . . good stuff!

Sounds delicious, Mingoslim! Welcome to the fun.

This evening I'm making homemade enchiladas with beef. Also Spanish rice, refried beans, and guacamole. Some Becks is down in the meat drawer getting good and cold.

Ribs & sausage at my favorite bbq joint. They were out of brisket, so the piece I stole off Hubby's plate at the reunion yesterday will have to be enough for this visit. Headed home tomorrow, and back to cooking in my kitchen on Wednesday. Yay!

HD, the steak seasoning is good too. Ancho chile, black pepper, sea salt, garlic, and a few other items I forgot. :D
Tonight it was fajitas with steak, chicken, pork, and chorizo. This is the cheaper Mexican restaurant down from the gym.
A good post work out meal.

Glad ya’ll made it back safe & sound .

Welcome Back !

Thanks. So nice to be able to drive my car, do dishes/laundry, cook in my kitchen (!!!), and have cooler weather. I actually wore long sleeves yesterday because it was 25 degrees cooler than what we'd been in.

Lily sure is missing her Papa.
