Basics tonight: BBQ steak with mushrooms, red and green peppers with onions, baked potatoes and simple feta/lettuce salad. Getting a bit chilly to BBQ, but you gotta milk what's left of the decent weather.

I had an exquisite meatball sammy while watching my Bears squeak by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in London. Washed down with Dogfish 60 and Jameson (after scores). I need a nap.....

It would seem that we loungers eat quite well! I may have to start avoiding this thread...makes me hungry every time I read it.

Tonight it was my sister-in-law's birthday and we ate Mexican........ I had the Carnitas tacos and a huge margarita. It's great to be back where they actually know how to make Mexican food :D

:p
In my opinion, one of the best burritos around here is at Tomy's Cafe & Diner in Garden Grove, not too far from Disneyland. I haven't tried it yet but their fajitas seem to be to die for. Whenever somebody orders it it's sizzling hot and the whole place looks like a sauna. You can smell it all the way to your table. ;) :essen:

I think the main drag that runs along there near Disneyland has some of the best places to eat no matter what type of food you are looking for. Not sure if a place called the Captain's Table is still around there, but it was a great place for a steak dinner!

We had a crowd at my place up north this evening, but we ate like kings and queens! We took a trip into Mio, picked up some sliced ham, potato, yams, green beans and salad and stopped by an Amish Bakery place and grabbed a few pies and some rolls to go along with everything.

It was notably colder up there, but it is getting along towards winter!

Not familiar with The Captain's Table but sadly there's a couple of places that you probably remember that's gone. There was Hansa House Smorgasbord on Harbor and Katella. It's now an IHOP and there was also Bellisle's on Harbor and Chapman. It was in a pink '50s era building and they gave you ENORMOUS portions. An Outback Steakhouse now sits on the site of Bellisle's.

Making it simple to day after a ton of mutton in cabbage yesterday. Homemade pike burgers, pan fried potatoes, crated raw carrots sprinkled with balsamico and raw cane sugar and strong sweet mustard.

Here in Mississippi, our weather can't make its mind up. It was in the 40s to 30s just a few days ago. Now it's back in the 80s.

Of course, I wanted to make soup tonight but I am debating on it since it will be even hotter tomorrow. Oh well, hot or not, I will be putting some veggies, ham and broth in the slow cooker tonight. Along with some cornbread. By tomorrow night, it should be really nice. Hopefully a cold front will come through. :)

But for tonight, leftover Pastitsio. Always a big hit in our home.

I forgot to mention the truffle fries from yesterday. I usually eat them sans condiment but the chef forced me to try them with his ranch dressing. Yum!

It is hot again here, so no more chili & soup, at least for a few days. :(

Grilling weather this evening: grilled NY strips & salmon filets, baked potatoes, yeast rolls, green salad, and apple caramel cake for dessert.
