I was with my wife and about a thousand other people standing in the cold air waiting outside of a temple in Nara (near Kyoto) Japan. At midnight they open the doors and let the people walk through as monks ring a big bell and you can look at a giant golden Buddha.

Getting ready to set off a bunch of fireworks. Hawaii is one of the last time zones to see the new year, so I was listening to the news throughout the day and when I heard Japan had no problems, I wasn't too worried.

I had grown tired by that point of correcting people who thought the new millenium was starting. 2001, dammit! Listen to Arthur C. Clarke! lol

In my grandmother's living room in San Marino, CA waiting for the next day to go to the Rose Parade. Oh, and watching all of the endless television programs covering the New Year and talking about computer outtages, yadda yadda yadda, and baby boomers. Did I mention I was going to the Rose Parade the next morning?

In the Bunker!

I was in my personal bunker working the reloading machine and watching over the stockpile of food and water waiting for the rampaging mob to come down the block!

Actually I was at a friends resturant celebrating with some 40 or so friends after a great dinner and an outstanding beer tasting there.:essen: :cheers1:

Although somewhat disappointed the world didn't go crazy, i got on with my life.

With some friends, wearing sparkly "2000" glasses and drinking pop in our pajamas.

I was fifteen; how exciting do you think it could have been?

Seeing as you ask . . .

I was performing in the middle of nowhere at a pathetic excuse for a gig, courtesy of a devious mongrel-guts DJ who hijacked the 400-strong audience who'd bought tickets to the show. He'd hired us to do the event with him, but then got offered more money by another club, so instead of promoting our event and working with us, he pulled out at the last minute and we discovered the 400 + people we'd been expecting had all turned up somewhere else, as all the advertising had gone into his gig. We had about 20 people in the audience and it was bloody awful.

Here's a pic of us going crazy anyway, complete with New Year's Eve leis around our necks . . .

I was at an all night rave with my then boyfriend and a large group of friends. We almost didn't make it as his ancient Mini sprung a petrol leak in the engine  and it would have been extremely unsafe to drive. I could see the headlines "Teenage couple die in millennium eve fireball".

I think I had a good time. I can't remember much about it!:eusa_doh:

I was at some friends' house, standing in their front yard touching off fireworks. As midnight rolled around were started the countdown and let out some happy yells when the lights stayed on.
