Sport is the mortal enemy of art and culture. Having last Summer suffered the indignity of living in an Olympic city, the only good word I have to say about that particular farce is that at least it will never again happen in my lifetime (and hopefully it has also killed stone dead any desire for or chance of London hosting the soccer World Cup, which would be even more beastly).

Watched Mad Men on the plane yesterday, a nice episode (American Tobacco pull their account, the slimy young exec who could pass for Steve Buscemi's son - Pete? - has a daughter). Last night in the hotel I saw the Game of Thrones episode about which so many have been howling. I enjoyed it very much.

I enjoy the world of art as much as I enjoy sports. I have never really understood why more people could not appreciate both.
:D

Pray that the World Cup never comes to town cause this is what you'll get.
Clash between Polish and Russian soccer fans at Euro 2012 in Warsaw

I think someone already described them adequately: "A festival of barbarians and buffoons who can run a bit fast, or are good at throwing and catching things. People in desperate search for a bauble with which to justify their existence. Among the very basest of human pursuits. Repulsive." lol lol The only difference being that the fans are even worse because they can't run fast or do those other things and will never even get baubles so they live vicariously through the athletes and then go nuts when they win or lose. There is a reason why they are called Fanatics---Fans for short.

I was the one who faced down the Games Teacher and won. He hated me because I was smarter than him, and I knew it (not hard, granted... such an obscene waste of money, though, to keep two full time members of staff on and the money spent on equipment that could have been better spent on something academic.... or at least not wasted on mindless, animal sport.... damn right that made me angry, as it should anyone with pretensions to being civilised). He tried to break me one day by making the rest of the class sit and wait until I finished the 1600m I had chosen to walk. They waited another twenty minutes. The buffon didn't take me on again.

Arm first for paralysis and fingers second for death. Bald isn't so bad, they need a doctor so she's a keeper.
:D
Rebellious DJ is next on my Nix list. He is one step away from being a tie-dye, ganja smoking, protesting New Earth hippie boy.

It is just that voice coming from her. :eeek::eusa_doh:

I thought the DJ WAS a hippie. :p He needs a good butt kicking and that will straighten him out. :p Datak needs to step up there. :p
