My suggestion is that you browse the various hat creases in the hat forums. The get a feel for various styles and study the questions http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?41576-Ask-a-question-get-an-answer to clarify tastes. The you can then begin to identify your best look. There is a wealth of information here which would have prevented my making some mistakes in some early hat choices.

But if you have locked in on a look and are truly ready, you might look at the Akubra Bogart for a far better hat at a similar price.

The crown is about the same height, the band/ribbon is similar and the brim is very similar. The crown shape is somewhat similar and you can tighten the pinch on the Bogart with some help from your friends here to get the same effect.

You also might look at the new Stetson catalog which was posted in the main hat category. There are a lot of new options available which would fit that look pretty well.

Yeah, that new Absinthe is looking good, but I still do not see the Stetson Exposition that Deckart was touting a few months ago. The Exposition seemed to have a larger brim with the same crown and edge binding.

The reviews I've seen were pretty positive and you can't beat the price. Akubra is also a great call. But you'll enjoy and benefit from your trip to Delmonico. There is no substitute for trying a variety of styles and feeling a range of materials and finishes.

THIS!

Looking online and actually trying a hat on will give you a huge idea of what does and does not work for you and what you do and do not like.

Spend time reading here also - HUGE wealth of info.
